We enjoyed our Saturday evening dinner at Jean Georges' brasserie. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff. For starters we had salads - mozzarella and asparagus - which were huge and very tasty. The accompanying breads were all delicious - these would have easily been enough. I tried two fresh fruit sodas, the green apple one and the lime and ginger, both tasted exactly as I hoped, refreshing and full of flavour. For mains we had burgher and pizza, which we didn't manage to finish although both were very good. Sadly, no space for deserts. The seating was very comfortable and as others noted the room is in the back ie no Bund views. The lighting is so low that some diners used torches (from their phones) to read the menu - this is also true for the toilets. Very stylish throughout though - recommended.

It has been a few years since I last visited this restaurant and I was very pleased both with the food and the service. Restaurant service in Shanghai is generally very poor so it was nice to see that the staff are so well trained. I dined there for lunch and the fixed price menu is a good option. The portions are small which is perfect for lunch and include a dessert as well.
Highly recommend the crab cake starter, salmon or snapper main and apricot tart with ginger ice cream.
If you have time order a ginger margherita at the bar.

This was our 2nd time visiting and was my birthday dinner. As compared to last year's visit: 1) restaurant is much busier and in a way more lively. 2) Services have deteriorated: a) we wanted 2 glasses of wine pairing for the Prix-Fix Menu (3 courses + dessert), but ended up with all four pairings (I have to "stop" him for giving me too much). Maybe it's communication problem. b) We had oysters first, and when they came over to provide us with bread, the waiter accidentally put the bread on my hubby's oyster plate, when he realised it, he just put the "wet" bread back to the bread plate... c) they didn't properly removed ALL the empty oysters plates... (need to remind them). d) when giving us the amuse bouche, they didn't explain at all (neither for the oysters) e) we ended up talking to a caucasian waiter (senior staff i would presume), then they started "stating" the ingredients on our plates ... they are like robots.. 3) Food: Great as usual!
This is very disappointing as service is a big part of the overall experience, a complete package. The training of staff is not adequate... though I understand it is very hard in China...

Without reservation we were welcomed to sit at the eating bar.
Food was very good and service friendly and prompt.
Wine a little pricey but food very reasonable.
Check it out!

Simply the best place I have been to in Shanghai.
The historical building were the restaurant is located is amazing, just next to the river with a view of the pudong skyline.
The food is very similar to Jean Georges New York and the service is just perfect.
Congratulations and thank you to Chef Jean Georges for offering us such great experience so far away from New York!
