The restaurant is large, done in a minimalist style, with tables overlooking the open kitchen. Food was very well presented, I loved the foie gras especially, but the temaki rolls were equally outstanding. A great japanese dining experience well worth the price.

Went to Shintori while on a holiday in Shanghai. It is a fantastic restaurant - one of the best I've been to! The decor is very cool, food was amazing and service was very good. Would highly recommend!

I used to live here, many years ago, and Shintori at that time was my favourite restaurant. I came back now, december 2013, and I was so happily surpised that quality, atmosphere and service are always top!!!

Long taxi ride from Bund was unexpected but when we walked through the plain entrance into the up-lit bamboo forest we were entranced. The restaurant is stunningly unusual--think warehouse meets modern art museum. Lighting was generally dark but each table had intense spotlights. Upper floor overlooks kitchen and bar/table area. Multi course meal had beautifully presented dishes, elaborately plated using dry ice/smoke and stacking dishes. Sadly, the taste of the food did not match the presentation. It was quite an experience and if you enjoy unique, futuristic ambiance, it was truly memorable. Just not memorable for the food.

We were very impressed with Shintori Null 2. Even from the moment you walk into the restaurant, it's cool! The ceilings are very high, it's got dim lighting, a very cool industrial feel, grey cement walls, etc. Very impressive! The open kitchen is nice. And they even take care of many details like cool cups and plates, etc. We think it is an interesting restaurant. Kind of makes you think of something trendy in New York. The food was pretty good, especially the Miso Cod. But the portions were tiny, and for high prices. Especially when compared to the prices of other things in Shanghai. After ordering what we thought would be a decent amount of food, we left hungry. I suppose you pay for the impressiveness factor of the rest of the restaurant. It's a pity that they could not also make the food somewhat decent value. I should add, though, that the restaurant was still full. Despite the high prices.
