Location: not really near any subway. Subway line 2 is about 10-15 minute walk which isn't too bad unless it is raining. Be prepared. It is located about 5 minute taxi ride away from Shanghai Train Station and the long distance bus terminal. It is however located near lots of local small eateries.

Rooms: Nothing fancy. Rooms are getting dated but cannot complain. Carpets are stained but they are clean.

It's a Ramada, should not expect a 5 star experience however if you are looking for an fairly reasonable priced hotel in Shanghai, this could be a good choice.

Ramada Shanghai Zhabei 24-27 Feb 2103

First hotel on a Wendy Wu tour.3 nights. Travelling with mum. two singles.
Room: 815
Room was clean. Fresh clean sheets on a very firm bed. Loved it but was a little dated.
Reasonable size room. They supplied the usual tea/coffee, fridge, safe, no mini bar. Just the basics.
Bathroom in need of a make over but basically clean. There was mould on grout on the walls in the shower. Bath with shower and hair dryer. Toiletries and accessories include the usual soap, shampoo/conditioner but extras such as toothbrush (changed daily), razor, shower cap, emery board, cotton tips, comb, sewing kit the most extras I have ever had in a hotel.
Breakfast: just ok. Mostly Asian noodles, soups and dumplings. Western food included toast no jams, only 2 fresh fruits, sausages, eggs, bacon and cereal. They had salad vegetables with dressing a little unusual for breakfast. Orange juice and iced water only, they both had ice in the containers but poured out hot. Horrible.
Foyer: the female staff never cracked a smile and in my opinion chose to attend to Asians first. The guys were a little better to deal with. The problem could be more the fact that they have trouble communicating. Wifi only in the foyer and no option to purchase wifi in the room. They offer foreign exchange at reason rates. There is a convenience store next door and across the road KFC, donut house and other western as well as Asian take away food stores.
If i was not travelling in a tour I would not choose to stay here. It is a little out of the way and the area a little ordinary, but felt safe.

Clean and comfortable rooms. Hotel conveniently located near shops. English speaking staff members. Good breakfast spread for Western tastes as well as Chinese dishes. Popular wedding venue for the locals which makes for a good show for Westerners visiting Shanghai.

we were put into a twin room after been told the double beds were small. we checked out the double rooms and they were ok ( we are tall people) abit more space in the room as you need it as they are not big rooms at all. we were going to up grade after checking out their web page but when we got there they said their web site was wrong and it would of cost us a fortune to upgrade.. the rooms are sort of clean, i think the carpets could do with a good hoover, but the rest of the room was clean. free wif in rooms and lobby.. Breakfast was good but it was hard to get an egg the way you wanted it, its their way or nothing. Overall the staff were very friendly. A 7 eleven and another small shop just near the hotel to stock up on water etc and also an atm machine. across the road was a sort of small department store with kentucky fried chicken. Check out the small shops also as we brought undies and socks for a real bargain. The subway is about a good 10 minute walk and we did it of a night and felt safe.easy to do as it is in english. If you have limited time i think it would be better to stay closer in the city only because the traffic is so bad it takes so long to get anywhere. but the hotel is ok to stay in.

Room Tip: go for the double bed room as they have abit more room than the twin.

in the "suburbs" of Changhi. Nice place about 3 to 4 star. good staff. good rooms, clean and tidy. good variety of food for breakfast. not too far from the major places to see in Shanghi, easy by taxi if you don't get caught in traffic.Plenty of shops and eat houses around this area.
would go back again. Only problem we had throughout China was not enough time to see eveything. Could have done with at least another day in each place. Done with private car and driver with an english speaking guide, the only way to see countries.

Room Tip: Think all rooms would be ok
