1) The location is perfect, it is on right on the heart of Shanghai where all the main activities happens! (it is a bit tricky to find the first time but it is totally worth it)
2) The rooms are nice and clean and the staff lets you to see the rooms before you check in to make sure you like them
3) Staff speak english and always willing to help you with directions, events, etc
4) The breakfast menu is PERFECT and very affordable to quickly start your day (By the way the breakfast location is inside a small cozy cafe / bar)

Room Tip: Single rooms are great, you have your own bathroom as well!

Pros;
+ Very chilled out and comfortable common area.
+ Powerful, hot shower.
+ Friendly staff (By Chinese standards).

Cons;
- Matresses too short for beds and beds not much longer.
- Not all dorm room lockers have the facilities to be locked.
- They had been washed but the sheets were stained as were the very old duvets and pillows.
- Toilet roll not provided in the toilets...make sure you ask for some before you go!

Location; Not bad, pretty central and close to People's Square metro station (Their directions are near useless though as they tell you to leave the station at Exit 4 which doesn't exist! If you stay here leave.at Exit 11 and head to left of the JW Marriott)

Breakfast; Not included but available to buy in the bar/restaurant.

I loved this place! Excellent spot, right in the mix of things and within walking distance of most attraction. The staff where very helpful and the bar is a great place to meet people and have a chat and a meal. I stayed in a twin room and it had a great feel to it and was very clean and tidy. This hostel is well decorated and the layout is also very good. Even in the midst of a cold winter this place is very warm and welcoming. Stay here people you wont be disappointed ; )

Room Tip: The laundry is a little basic and the dryer didnt seem to dry the cloths first time around. Its cheaper to catch it before it stops drying too.

You cannot beat the location of this hostel even though it took a while to find it. Get off at peoples square exit 11 not exit 4 which the hostel told me(exit 4 doesn't exist, hence why I got very lost). Only 5 mins walk to all the shops and food malls. And it didn't take long to the bund either. The dorms are a good size but weren't cleaned very well and the floor was very dusty. I think the thing that doesn't make this hostel better for me is that for about 4 or 5 rooms which i assume are all 6 bed dorms there is ONE shower and TWO loos for maybe over 25 people if full. I had to wait a while for the bathrooms meaning I had to wake up even earlier. With it being only about 4 degrees when I was here you do not want to be wandering around trying to find other loos. The bar area was comfy but we didn't buy anything, the coffee/tea menu was far to expsensive for a hostel like 20¥ for a black tea. That's rediculous. So we felt we were not welcomed because we didn't buy from the bar.
I can't justify only giving a 3 star overall when the location was exactly where you want to be. So that's why I've given 4.

lovely hostel, very welcoming and as beautiful as it look in the photos. My room was very quite and comfortable, stayed for one night and it was a great location to explore the city from. Walked from the hostel to the train station and also walked to the surrounding area.
