From the minute you walk into this hotel's lobby you realise that it is something special. The lobby on the third floor has a wall sized window to look out over the city sights. The lifts and landing areas are decorated with beautiful lush colourful carpets and attention to detail. Our room was gorgeous with a see through bathroom window wall complete with an electric blind for privacy. The bathroom was very large with a free standing bath and separate shower. The room was equipped with a very comfy bed and a chaise lounge for extra seating and was spotlessly clean throughout. Breakfast was a feast to behold with a fresh juice bar in action. Staff were very attentive and helpful.
If you turn to your left as you leave the hotel and follow the pathway through, cross over the street and go down the nearest side street. Lo and behold a beautiful shopping and restaurant area which is in front of the Yuyuan Gardens which are also well worth seeing. You will easily find a meal here at a fraction of the cost of the hotel.

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel after a long trip through China. Great location, very luxurious, great service and a we had booked a suite room with a floor to ceiling window on two sides overlooking the bund and onto the amazing shanghai skyscraper skyline wow wow wow, ask for a room overlooking this, well worth it. Good breakfast, Chinese and western plenty of choice to suit everyone. The location was perfect to walk out to the Old Shanghai street area and onto the Yu Gardens, Also within walking distance of the bund. Subway station directly across the road. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a view overlooking the shanghai skyline towards the pearl tower and Jin Mao tower. We had a corner suite so had floor to ceiling windows on two side of room. Fab.

The stay in this hotel was the best during my 20 day trip to China, great location, great room, great service, good price. It is next to the subway station, Yu Garden and very close to the Bund (15 min walk).
The lobby was tastefully decorated, a great place to sit and relax. My room had a great view - new skyscrapers mixed with old smaller houses. Everything in the hotel was new and clean.
Highly recommended, will stay again.

Have chosen to stay at this hotel in early July due to its superb location. The hotel is right next to Line 10 Yu Garden metro station and the Yu Garden (豫园) tourist attraction is just 5 min walk behind the hotel. It's a little expensive but the convenience of the metro station make up for it. It is also about 10 min walk away from the famous Shanghai Bund.

The hotel room is very clean and comfortable. They had pampered us with 3 pairs of hard-and-soft pillows for our choice on a large King size bed. The see-through, full length glass bathroom has a great bathtub which I enjoyed very much. Good to relax in it especially after a tiring whole-day of shopping and sight-seeing. Marriott Rewards members will have free wi-fi access. Just need to ask the friendly staff for the instructions to connect to the free wifi (typically, it's your room number + last name).

There are two McDonald's nearby which are your best bet for breakfast and other meals, if you are not the adventurous type or if you are holidaying with kids.

For the shoppers, there are 2 great wholesale markets and a discount departmental store within 5 min walking distance of the hotel. There is a smaller "market-style" shops next to a mosque, behind the hotel. The whole Yu Garden is practically a shopping complex with many small shops and a few larger departmental stores. All shops in the vincinity need to bargain. Best advise is to walk around and compare prices first before you decide on the starting bargain price, 50% discount is a good option to start. The discount-outlet department store is just opposite the south entrance of the Yu Garden.

Have stayed at this hotel maybe 6 or 7 nights total in the last few month for business. Very close to the Yu Garden, Bund, Old Shanghai. All the amenities, you'd expect at a very nice hotel. Also located right on Fuyou Rd, it is perfect for walking the cheap market area. The Hotel staff was very friendly for directions etc. I ate breakfast every morning, and out of three hotels it was THE best, especially for Westerners. The door men also were great, they were fairly fluent in english and could point in the direction I needed to walk when I asked for something. They were very friendly. There were always Taxis waiting outside, although I never used them. I was told to never use the blue taxi company as they would cheat you on the meter, but use the Red taxis. Also this is right across from the subway, which too was convenient. The bar was a little expensive, 35 RMB for a beer, but I did get a hair cut at the salon for 30 RMB (about $4.50 USD). I spent (2) two week trips in Shanghai, and visited 3 hotels and this was my favorite by far.

Room Tip: There is construction going on on one side of the hotel, ask to be facing away from it.
