SSAW Hotel lies just next to the busy Huaihai road, charming French Concession and the tunnel over to Pudong. The location could not have been better.

Our hotel room was spacious with a comfortable kingsize bed, complementary soft drinks, LARGE bathtub and shower and two sinks in the bath room.

The breakfast at the hotel was OK. It consisted of bread, warm dishes, buns, cakes, yoghurt, cereal, fruits. There are also two chefs there that takes your omlett - and laksa (nudel) orders. Their coffee is also nice. The hotel restaurant has a great outdoor area! The roomservice however is a different story. We were unable to order additional bottled water to the room and the food they provide is very simple. Try Sherpa instead if you would like to order food to the room. This is a wonderful Shanghai food- delivery service in Shanghai. http://www.sherpa.com.cn/

Very good value for the money!

A good hotel and good value for money, with just a little more attention to details, it could be even excellent.
Rooms are nice, modernly designed and furnished. Though a bit small, there is a good use of floor space and they still feel spacious. There's an in-room safe and bathrooms contains all the necessary amenities. The small extras like free soft drinks and an in-room coffee machine are really great and make you feel the hotel isn't about making easy money on small things. Rooms were clean and well attended, but were not spotless as the windowsill was pretty dusty. Also, more shelves inside the closet would be nice.
Location is very convenient, just 5 min. to nearest subway station and pretty much at the center of town. It's very close to the tourist attractions which is good during the day, but at night it's quite dead there, and you'll need to take the subway if you want to hang out late or eat well.
The biggest drawback though was the breakfast - in a hotel where at least half of its guests are foreigners (at least when we stayed there), a better and richer western selection should be expected. Apart from an old bread (it was at least a few days old, on the two mornings we ate there), a few fresh vegetables and (how strange!) french fires, the rest was an overwhelmingly Chinese fare, most of which was lukewarm or even cold and swimming in oil. There were strange things even by Chinese breakfast standards like sweet and sour ribs and Cantonese roasted goose, which might arise the suspicion that it's leftovers from the night before at the hotel's Cantonese restaurant. As the hotel has proven it's not cheap, a bit more attention to breakfast would be appreciated and make a return visit well worth it.

Booked for our stop over stay going from Australia to Europe. Located walking distance from Bund and amazing Yu Garden quarter. Very nice near luxury rooms, wifi internet and complimentary drinks included. Good tea and coffe making facilities. Taxi waiting in front of the hotel, so you can use this afordable transport option. Metro station nearby, but remenber, there are many (20 mil.) people in Shanghai :) Very good aircondition (in our case heating), you can set your prefered temperature and you will get it. Nice bathroom with all amenities. Trully 4 star, maybe 4,5 star hotel. Recomended.

This hotel was fantastic. We booked this hotel as we knew we could afford the slightly premium room and in doing so we hoped we would be higher up and have good views. We turned up dripping with sweat and were immediately given a glass of water, a flannel and a cheery hello. To our surprise they had upgraded us to the suite (we had only booked a deluxe room) and it was massive. We had a bath tub, a lounge room, a bath tub which overlooked the city, and a complimentary mini bar. The hotel met our requests when we need an iron and other services. Excellent WiFi signal. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel doesn't look much from the outside but inside it is a dream. The only thing missing was a bar and an option for breakfast but this was soon forgotten with everything else.

Room Tip: Pay a little bit more because you still get a good price and will be guaranteed a higher room.

I stayed 4N in Ssaw Hotel Shanghai during my Shanghai trip in Mar 2013. The hotel is situated in a central location, 5min walk from the Yuyuan metro station (purple) and about 15min walk from the Dashijie metro station (blue). From the hotel, you can walk along the Huai Hai East road to the Infinity Plaza Mall where you can find some nice restaurants. The hotel room is clean and cozy, nicely decorated with a zen look. To our surprise, they even provide free soft drinks and biscuits in the mini fridge. I had an enjoyable stay in this hotel!
