About 1 mile from circuit and even closer to golf course. I had room 1708 which faced both. Air conditioner worked fine as did other amenities. Did not turn on the TV.

Included breakfast was surprisingly good. Ate at the Japanese restaurant and did enjoy the noodle dishes with a cold beer. Staff in this restaurant were excellent.

All hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

Taxi availability can be an issue here or at the place you get dropped off. The hotel did provide a driver at a premium as we required expedited transport, this was very accommodating.
Ended up with a private cabbie, anytime we needed him he was there.
As with any foreign location....If you go out, bring a hotel business card to show the cabbie, it will save you.

If you are not familiar with China, the beds here are typically harder than most western folks are accustomed to. If this is an issue, bring a thermorest.

An excellent Hotel for the price, and only a 10 minute hotel shuttle trip from the Shanghai International Circuit, an excellent base. Not ideal for Shanghai City Centre sightseeing, c. 1 hour drive. The service we received was excellent, management & staff could not have been more accomodating. Room & breakfast above average. Specialist restaurants expensive-ish! Departed with very fond memories.

Room Tip: Request one overlooking the Golf Course and F1 International Circuit.

This is for the Great Tang Hotel near Automotive City, Shanghai (near the end of Metro Line 11). Make sure you get the correct hotel. There are multiple Great Tang Hotels. About 4 or 5 years old. Clean, quiet, good value. Chinese food was good. North American food was OK.

After a long flight from Canada this was not exactly what was hoped for or expected. It is miles and miles from everything. We gave up seeing Expo from this location as it took 1 1/2hrs. plus from the airport. What a dirty disappointing experience. BEWARE OF CHINA'S HOTEL RATINGS. They are a far cry from North American standards.

The beds were hard as table tops with a sheet on them. NO ability to regulate the air conditioning in most hotels in China and this one was no exception. The room was dirty, carpet stained and the bathroom of poor quality. Also take note that in many hotels they hold money for damages to the rooms. CHECK YOUR ROOM WHEN YOU ENTER IT AND IF THERE IS DAMAGE TAKE PICTURES AND CALL OR GO TO THE FRONT DESK. Even if it is just stains or chipped furingure etc. It will save you a lot of trouble later.

The buffet breakfast is cold, cold cold and unedible.

There was only the 'fancy' restaurant for supper on the second floor. No one there but us!

Trying to get help in English was an impossible challenge.

There is a swimming pool which was slimmy looking and seemed to be filling itself with rain water! Yuck!!!

If is a tour bus trap that the poor tourist have no choice be to be bedded at.

Don't stay here if you can possibly find somewhere else to stay.

This hotel is unsuitable for international travelers. It is at least 1 1/2 hours outside of the city, over a 30 minute walk from any mass transit, in a polluted industrial area that had our eyes stinging and lungs burning (it is much worse than the center of Shanghai). The staff does not speak English, there is no ATM, and on weekends, they won't exchange cash. Lower floors have no cold water so showers are scalding, the rooms were quite hot even in October, with no AC or even fans, the minibars were not stocked, and the food at the buffet was really salty and mostly of pretty poor quality, but thankfully they stocked cold beer in the restaurant and bar. The elevators are quite slow. I liked the really hard bed, but my colleagues did not, and I also appreciated that the area was relatively quiet at night. My room was large and clean, although the carpet was stained. The usual shower gel, shampoo and etc. were available. WiFi service was slow and limited to certain times of day, and only available in the bar area. Overall, though, this hotel really spoiled our trip to Shanghai because it was so far away from anything and so uncomfortable that we were not able to relax or enjoy any of Shanghai's more scenic areas. Our hosts selected the hotel based on availability of rooms for a large group, and had limited affordable options (students were also staying in the hotel) because of the Expo, so we do not fault them at all, they did everything they could to make our trip enjoyable. However, the hotel was terrible.

Soiled carpets in rooms. Dilapitaed furniture in lobby. Phone malfunctioned; kept ringing all night. Poor service. Don't cash travellers' cheques. Can't give simple instructions on how to travel within Shanghai.
