“Great location, and view from the Vue”
Reviewed April 7, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I stayed here for 2 days in March - all paid for using my Hyatt points. Great staff, like all over China, fantastic view from the Vue cocktail bar, and we even had access to the Bund club lounge, so free cocktails, breakfast and even dinner one night ! On site restaurants kind of average, but on the whole, lovely place.

It is a good hotel indeed but I think the whole experience is not to the "Hyatt standard" in my opinion, while compared with the other Hyatt in China.
The location is good, just beside Huang Pu River and you can have a nice view to see the river in the room or at the Vue Bar. But the restaurant is a bit small so that I can see at least 10 guests are waiting for the breakfast at 9am. The selection for the breakfast and dinner are not many compared with the other Hyatt Hotels in China. And you can hardly find waiter/waitress when you need them.
I stayed in the standard room but there was a river view also. I suppose all of the room can have a river view even it is not a "river view room".

Shanghai has many choices in terms of accommodation.. There are four Hyatts in the city including the Andaz property near Peoples park... I have been to them all... The Hyatt on the bund is not so big that it is imposing. Service is impeccable, Staff from room attendant up are cordial, well informed and walk the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. Rooms spacious, well maintained comfortable and quiet.... Bed..... heavenly.. Get the extra "rye" pillows.. Wonderful.Bund Club is great and the staff are all fluent in English..I speak mandarin bur no need here.. Their English is much better than my Chinese!! I had foreign guests with me on first visit to China.. They were very happy. We visited the highest bar in the world in the Park Hyatt.. Vue Bar at Hyatt on the Bund came out as our favourite. Yes, I am a long time Hyatt fan....Consistency, excellence of service, and the Hyatt Touch are very hard to beat..

Room Tip: High floor overlooking the Huang Pu River/Bund is the place to be.

I love this place.
It is right at the bend of the bund which means a few things. Firstly because most of the rooms look to the bund you get the perfect panorama allowing you to see both banks of the bund well. This is something that only that particular position of the bund would allow you to see and the views even from a standard room are fantastic. I have stayed here so many times and in many different rooms and I can say that if you ar a hyatt platinum or above you will probably be given a room looking out on the bund however low a room you select in price.
Secondly the hotel is very quiet and is just on the border of the busy city and a more local area. The advantage here is that whilst it is within 100 meters of busier places such as the peninsula hotel, you can easily get a cab and also its easy to get snacks etc from 7 elevens right outside the hotel (hence avoiding paying for the minibar although this is not too expensive anyway).
Also an amazing advantage is that there is a booking office for the trains right outside the hotel that hardly ever has a queue. If you have experienced how hard it is to book train tickets in china before it should be clear how useful that it.
The hotel is in fact i believe two different hotel towers that were then connected together by a very large construction at their base. Having said that the construction and final product are excellent with a huge swimming pool underground and even a small river built into the bottom area of the lobby.
The staff are very helpful and professional and the club lounge is very good offering good breakfasts. The restaurants are also excellent.
Overall given the price this is the place to stay in shanghai - you can sometimes get rooms for below 1000 CNY which for a hotel of this quality is fantastic.

I stayed with Hyatt on the Bund 10 times now and I will stay the next 10 times for sure. The rooms are spacious, never had a small one or was disappointed. Upgrades are nice but not necessary as the rooms are all great. The Bund is just a minute away, NanJing road just some 5-10 minutes walk. The best is the staff: Always friendly, well trained and professional, well English speaking. It always feels like coming home. The spa is worth a try, you won't regret it after a hard day of work, the gym is well equipped and all facilities are clean and well maintained.
If you go to Shanghai, go to Hyatt on the Bund and enjoy noble calmness in a vivid city.

we stayed here overnight after our cruise - the welcome to the hotel was ok, assistance with luggage lacking and generally did not come up to the standard of the hotel we had in Singapore where we were shown to our rooms - where everything was and the idiosyncrasies of putting the room key over the pad in the lifts to go up was explained to us - we were ok with this here but found ourselves explaining how to make the lift work to other guests! after an afternoon / early evening sight seeing we were quite late back and booked into the Chinese kitchen on our way through the lobby - without checking the menu and prices - a big mistake - it was very overpriced for what we got and the service was not to the standard we would expect for the price - it was also very cold and when mentioned to the staff we were simply told it would be reported to the manager - the air con was so fierce our food got cold very quickly - considering the height of the ceiling and low temp outside the air con was hardly needed at all . the room we had was good overlooking the Bund - beautiful at night - tea and coffee available and found in a box in the drawer of the snacks etc linked to the mini bar - not a place we expected to find it! there is no where to sit and relax within the hotel we had to check out by noon and had an 8-30pm pick up for the airport packing bits and bobs bought during the afternoon in the suitcases in the lobby was not ideal- we were however told we could use the locker room in the gym to freshen up - we passed on this and made do with the rest rooms off the lobby. Breakfast was good and a wide selection available - a second cup of coffee was hard to come by but the tea was fine - I would stay here again due to the location but would hope the service had some polish by then - hopefully they read the comments!!

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the Bund for great night time view

This is where I stay for business in Shanghai. It's a ways (about 40 min) from the airport but the convenience of the location in terms of meetings and seeing Shanghai itself more than makes up for that. The staff are excellent at anticipating needs, especially those staff in the business centre. They made working, even in the middle of the night (daytime in North America) a breeze.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a view over the water - simply amazing to see
