“Good standard for location”

This hotel is not one you would choose to visit Shanghai Central, it is more use if you need to be in the Songjian Area, then it will be good for you. A taxi into Central Shanghai will cost RMB100, whilst a taxi to the Metro Subway will cost RMB14 and a day card on the metro about RMB18, it will take you about an hour and the Metro can get very busy and extremely busy at peak times.
If you want to take a taxi the concierge will tell the taxi driver for you where you want to go.

There are restaurants in the hotel including a Japanese restaurant.
Breakfast is a buffet breakfast with a large choice of dishes that will appeal to most tastes.
The hotel also has table tennis (Ping Pong), a snooker table, chess room, spa, massage and an indoor swimming pool.
The rooms are comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar, a desk area and a single chair bed if required.
The bathroom is big, with a bath and a separate good shower, two dressing gowns and hotel slippers.
All the usual room services are available, so you can eat in the room, have your laundry and dry cleaning done and even get your shoes shined.

The hotel is actually linked to the local shopping centre from the 3rd floor so you don't have to go outside to enter. There are all the typical shops and restaurants you would expect as well as a Tesco supermarket.

Not far from the hotel is a large themed park area Thames Town, where the buildings are of a British type design and the street names are British names.
There are lots of shops nearby and any type of personal services you might like to try. Most shops and services have someone who can speak a bit of English but most taxi drivers don't, so make sure you always have a card on you with the hotel name and address in Chinese!

Room Tip: Two non smoking floors so ask if you are a non smoker

Very nice hotel -- comfortable, well-appointed room with a fabulous bathroom. Nice park across the street and several interesting sites to visit within a short taxi ride. Breakfast buffet was fabulous, although if you book through a discount site, it may not be included in your room rate. Songjiang is a little far from the city center, so if you want to be close to major sites this may not be the best option; it was close to where I needed to be for business, but it took about an hour to get into the city center on my off day; you can take a taxi or the subway, which is about a fifteen minute walk down the street. There's also a decent sized mall next door. Hotel staff were very helpful, and there's an ATM in the lobby, which is convenient. The internet connection was also pretty reliable, unlike some other hotels I stayed in in China. Overall, I was very pleased with this hotel.

This is a great hotel with good ammenities. The SPA is very nice but a bit expensive. It is also connected to a shopping centre with plenty gift shops and decent restaurants. The rooms are clean and the service good. The major downside to this hotel is its location. It is very far (+-1hr) from any sight seeing places in Shanghai city centre. It is perfect if you are visiting factories in the area but not suited for tourist. The restaurant in the hotel is very expensive. Rather go outside to the shopping centre for much more reasonible prices. Otherwise a good hotel.

Good Points:

1. The rooms are fairly spacious, bathroom was nice and clean.
2. Hotel is located next door to a shopping mall of which you could find a variety of restaurants to eat from including McDonald's, KFC, Starbucks for coffee, etc.
2. The shops are brand name outlets but quite quite pricy.

Weak Points:
1. Its located about an hour away from the airport (not sure of the name but there are two airports in Shanghai). The hotel does not provide shuttle service to/from the airport. The taxi driver could not speaking English and so it was a challenge to get to the Hotel.
2. The breakfast was average, would prefer to eat somewhere else.
3. The staff at reception has a difficult time understanding English. Seriously!
4. For three consecutive nights, I tried ordering a simple dish with chicken to my room. It seems that the hotel always 'ran out of chicken'.

Overall, I would come again, only if I really need to be in this area of Shanghai.

Spent 5 nights at the New Century, and find it hard to fault! It IS hard to get the temperature in the room down below 70C, but on the plus side, I didn't have my usual air conditioning respiratory "issue"! The complementary breakfast offered a good variety of western options, I felt safe walking around the lake and to the near by Starbucks, although crossing the street requires timing! Met local Shanghai friends for dinner in one of the private rooms, and had a wonderful meal, with attentive service.

I went couple of times in this hotel for business purpose. It's good when you've business to do in the area. It's probably the best in that surrounding. The hotel is attached to a a kind of mall where it's possible to eat at a much affordable price. Their Japanese restaurant is good, the spa is ok and the rooms comfortable.

I've spent one night at this hotel for the second time.
I chose this hotel as it was recommended by the company that hosted me , and indeed it was good.
Although the location is actually outside of Shanghai , but it was good for me as I had to visit a company in this location ( 10 min. with taxi ).
Overall the hotel is very nice, the stuff are nice and friendly.

The room was large and clean, the beds are very comfortable, and inside the room there was another desk for the laptop. The internet was included , and it worked very well.
The breakfast at the hotel was very good with many choices.
Close to the hotel there is a shopping center with many restaurants, Starbucks, and other coffee shops.
