There for only one night but, I was impressed with the service and rooms. Breakfast was okay, but the business lounge was only satisfactory due lack of quality snacks. Can get harassed by hawkers out front of hotel, but not a safety concern.

This hotel is fairly easy access from Hongqiao airport (but can still be nearly 1h in traffic in Shanghai). It is well maintained as I have been there few times over the last few years. In fact the main restaurant is being revamped as we speak and should be all done fairly soon.
Each time I stayed I had a nice room and they were all well equipped and cleaned. The internet and TV channel selection are good. Not too sure what is close by as I never had the opportunity to check out.
If you are looking for a clean hotel in that part of the town that is a good option.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a NON Smoking floor if you are a none smoker as otherwise it could be painfull...

Dear J - P D, many thanks for taking your time out to review our Hotel, regrettably we do not have any control over the traffic in Shanghai, which at times can be unpredictable, generally a transfer to Hongqiao Airport takes approx 10 mins., but as you experienced can also turn into 1 hour.
We continuously maintain and upgrade our Hotel, recently we changed all the TV's from 32" to 42".
In regards to the smoking, we always review and have also reduced the number of Smoking rooms to reflect the needs of our Guests.
Our Cafe's renovation will soon be completed and we look forward to welcome you back which will include also an outdoor Terrace. with best regards

Very nice design hotel out from the city center. Everything has a price there, despite the room charge you'll have to pay for internet, breakfast, water in the gym, water in the room, late check out. The cost will increse by 50% and you'll be sorrounded by pricetags that you would normally find in a IBIS hotel. In Shanghai there are much better deals for the same price (four seasons for example). People were not particularly friendly, sometimes even rude, food decent but not great. Nothing "unexpected"...

Dear Heap73, many thanks for your recent stay, you may not have been aware there are room arrangements which do include the Internet and Breakfast. Am surprised by your comments about the Water charges, as daily we provide 2 Bottles of 50oml Water to Rooms, the same applies also the Gym where bottled Water is complimentary. Imported Mineral Water however as you will appreciate is being charged. We continuously strive to improve our services and we trust that on your next visit you will be able to appreciate this. Late check-out is being charged as in any international destinations. We look forward to welcome you back and do not hesitate to contact me, with best regards, Rene Teuscher, General Manager

Nice clean hotel situated conveniently. The room was clean and well appointed for the businessman. Food decent, but not really western, but it is China after all. My problem is the internet which is slow, costly and has restrictions on number of devices. Did not read the 'terms' and checked box, read later only to find out that my data is for use as the hotel wishes. Clever for them and potential ID theft for me. Why? I called with internet problem at 3 am (aren't westerners up then!) and agent was rude. Called back and was given someone else's room and name to long on under. Wonder if this person knows? Also AC is a mystery and room is stuffy.

To the AC we regret the inconvenience. We look forward to welcome you back and feel free to contact me for any assistance, with best regards, Rene Teuscher, General Manager

Overall, the hotel is fine. It was recently build (or renovated), it's modern, the location's not bad, the rooms and bathrooms look pretty nice.

But: the A/C in the rooms does not work. That's right. We stayed in two rooms (changed after spending a few hours in the first one) with the A/C blowing air, not cold air. Apparently the temperature dial in the room simply doesn't work. So why is it there in the first place? It was hot in the room which made the sleeping extremely uncomfortable. You wouldn't exactly expect that from a four or five star hotel.

In addition, smoking is still prevalent in the hotel. I know China is infamous for its lax smoking policy but it was a little too lax for my liking at the Millennium. There are 'smoking' and 'no-smoking' tables at the bar on the ground floor, yet the tables are all one next to another. Not much point having a no-smoking sign on a table if your direct neighbor smokes a cigar.

Finally, the service was just ok. Really nothing to rave about. That being said, the business center (on the third floor) is truly excellent. The personnel that works there is top-notch, always ready to assist whenever we had a request. So are the facilities. There are numerous comfortable chairs and desks available and when we worked out of the third floor it was always quiet. That was a huge bonus!

Three stars because there is no A/C in the room and there's too much smoking in the hotel.

Dear JeremyRTWtraveler, many thanks for your constructive comments in regards to your recent stay with us. The temperatures in Shanghai have been rather on the unseasonal high side, which did create some problems for our A/C and we regret the inconveniences you experienced. In regards to the Smoking we will be able to address this much more aggressively when we will be opening our outdoor Terrace (by end of March) which will allow us to direct Cigar Smokers to the outdoor areas. We appreciate your very positive comments in regards to the Business Center on the 3rd floor and the service you have been provided. We trust that you will give us the opportunity to welcome you once again, with best regards, Rene Teuscher, General Manager

Located in an odd place close to, and under an elevated highway, difficult to access by car.
Luckily there is Shopping/food complex next door. The ShuiCheng Metro stattion on line 10 is at a short distance ross the road. Good rooms. Suitable, if you do not speak Chinese.
If you do, then this is overpriced and inconvenient.\ly located.
