Ambiente, service, location & view are incredible, but a lot of times the food in such places disappoints. In this case Light and Salt also offers not only high quality food, but its presentation is done in a very inventive way and therefore also enjoyable for the eyes. Their set menus offer a great deal for 3 courses and many choices to pick from. After dinner their bar offers a perfect finish of the night :-)

I´ve been to Ligh & Salt recently and had one of the most amazing meals ever in Shanghai. Food is delicious, staff are very friendly and professional, great atmosphere to be with friends or for a romantic dinner as well. Sure will come back many times.

To begin, the restaurant is located in the old historic YWCA building just off the famous Bund in Shanghai. The decor was well done and tasteful and the service is genuinely warm and friendly. The bar located (and you might have to ask to go to the bar) is behind a sliding closed door. It is also full of overstuffed leather chairs and tastefully decorated. The bartender is chatty and knows his cocktails and other spirits. He is always more than willing to offer a suggestion. Now, on to the food. I have been here now on three occasions and have never been disappointed in the quality or presentation of the foods. This is a set menu type restaurant and so we usually take the 4 course meal. The seafood is just wonderful and the two times I had beef, I was also impressed. They do not over portion, so you don't feel stuffed, yet, there is enough for even a big appetite. I can highly recommend this restaurant for those looking for a great dining experience and nice surroundings. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

I have been coming to Light and Salt since its opening and have always found the ambience interesting and reeking of old Shanghai with a new modern twist, staff courteous and attentive and the food delicious, and that was the reason that I chose this particular restaurant out of the many in Shanghai for my birthday dinner.
The seating arranged with a view of the old British Consulate and the lights of the PuDong skyline…..
The dinner was delicious and the service superb, but the treat was the quality and super taste of the new menu …..
The Chef has been devising some new dishes while keeping the ones of the opening menu that have been working well for them…..The formula allows you to pick 3 dishes from any part of the menu for a set price and I have to say that it is an interesting formula for a high end cuisine restaurant allowing you to have excellent quality at a reasonable price…..
The new appetizers like the Salmon or the Kingfish are delicious and the introduction of the lobster in the mains is an excellent addition (that I immediately tried).
In short if you are in Shanghai and want to experience the RockBund area for culinary delicacies head over to Light and Salt ….

The Place overlooks the old British Consulate and it has a nice view of Pudong's main skyscrapers. The menu doesn't have a super variety, but offer and price are favorable. Overall a good dinner.
