We were lucky to get a nice corner room, with views to the east and north (from the bathroom). Everything worked nicely in the room, and the 'European' breakfast was well catered.

Rooms were clean and spacious, and a good location to get to other parts of Shanghai.

My only complaint was that the window didn't close fully, so there was a constant traffic noise from the dual-layer route through the city! At least with a constant flow of vehicles the white noise didn't impede my sleep!

Room Tip: Corner room gives more space and views, but make sure the windows shut!

We stayed at this hotel for two nights at the end of our tour of China.
The room was very small the bathroom even smaller, the air con eventually cooled it down but needed to be on full all of the time.
The rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable.
We had a meal in the restaurant here but it was probably the least good of our trip, all edible and tasty but not as good as elsewhere.
The breakfast was quite good though.
The location is away from the centre, you could not walk anywhere from this hotel.
I would not choose this hotel.

Stayed here as part of a Wendy Wu tour. In our original room the Air Conditioning system was barely functional and extremely noisy with almost nil airflow into the room. As the daytime temperatures was in the region of 33 - 34 degrees the air in the room was stifling. Also the room stank of cigarette smoke although designated as a non-smoking room.To top it off the mattress (inner springs) of our bed had collapsed on my side of the bed to such a degree that I smacked my head on the bedside table when rolling over in bed.

As I suffer from Asthma the room temperature plus the lingering cigarette smoke made me feel very, very unwell too such an extent that at 03:00 in the morning of our first night, my wife had to front up to the front desk to complain. At approximately 03:30 we were moved to a room on the 16th floor which was somewhat better. We found out the next day from fellow members of our tour group that the conditions in their rooms were not much better.

When we mentioned the situation to our National Escort she found out that the hotel management configure the AIRCON System so that the room temperature actually increases throughout the night. The National Escort managed to convince the management not to do that for the remainder of our groups stay.

The location of the hotel is not bad as it is only a 10 to 15 minute walk to the shopping district of Nanjing Street. The desk staff were very good with a working knowledge of English. The Lobby Bar wasn't bad even though the bar staff had very limited English. The hotel laundry service was excellent with all our clothes returned to us each day on clothes hangers plus our underwear and socks were all sealed in plastic bags.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here (even as part of a tour group) definitely request a room in the upper floor...

This was the first hotel visited during a tour covering Shanghai, Xi'An, Beijing and Hong Kong. The bed was comfortable, unusual for Chinese hotels. The room was a good size with "extras" included making the stay more comfortable such as towelling robes and slippers. The bathroom was well-stocked and the breakfast was good. The only problem we experienced was with the air conditioning which cooled the room but brought in other people's smoke - obviously recirculated through the hotel. Worth staying here just for the comfortable beds!!

This was our first stop on a Wendy Wu tour. Upon arrival we were originally given a smoking room on the 9th floor- smelt like an ash tray and was small and gloomy. After speaking to reception we were upgraded to an executive non smoking room on the 13th floor. Amazing views of the city from huge windows full length of the room. Well worth paying for an upgrade if you dont get allocated one. Only problem was that the room was noisy due to the traffic, but ear plugs did the trick. We discovered from other wendy wu guests, that if u had a room even higher, the windows had a second layer of double glazing, which shut out any noise.
Very comfortable kingsize bed and modern bathroom, with lots of complimentary items. Tea and coffee facilities and mini bar( all chargeable but very reasonably priced.
As i was waiting on my lost luggage from Air China, we chose to eat in the hotel restaurant, as we had booked an extra night before our tour started.
There was no english menu but pictures of every dish , so easy to order. We chose 4 dishes plus rice and 2 large bottled beers. The bill was aprox £20, and the food was tasty and generous portion sizes.Staff used google translator to communicate with us, which we appreciated.
The restaurant and bar closes at 10pm, which is typical throughout China. The guy behind the bar was not particularly friendly, but it had good wi fi reception and prices werent bad. Dont expect to get wine in China, its not common, mostly bottled beers and spirits on offer at bars and restaurants, with a few exceptions.
Breakfast room was nice, cornflakes, fruit, yoghurt, croissants and jams. Bacon, boiled eggs, beans, frankfurter sausages. Huge selection of chinese dishes if u fancy that for breakfast. Also there was a station for fried eggs and omelete and a toast machine.Fresh orange, coffee and tea, although i couldnt find a decent coffee anywhere but international coffee shops throughout China.
Dry cleaning service available . Tv was large flat screen but only CNN in english.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on 13th floor and upwards to avoid smoking rooms

Good value for money, I have been in some better but defiantly been in a lot worse (even in Australia). The bed was the best so far in China. Good locality close to the CBD and tourist attractions and the room was very quiet considering on a main road.

First stop on our China Wendy Wu Tour. This was a high standard hotel for our stay in Shanghai. We had a good clean room with a comfortable, soft mattress. Apparently unusual in China. Breakfast was good, buffet style. Chinese or western food. Eggs to order.
Only negative. Tea and coffee facilities available in the room. But if you use the coffee bags, you will be charged as a mini-bar item. If you look very closely on the container you will see tiny faded price for the coffee bags only. Staff helpful. But not as good as the two Wendy Wu Tour guides, WeiWei, the National guide and Alison the local representative. Both were excellent and worked very hard, even chasing up our luggage which arrived 24 hours later from Qatar Airways.

Room Tip: Beware mini-bar charge
