“Beautiful Room, Great Value for Money”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

I'm staying at the Longemont Hotel and it is a beautiful property. As I find with many hotels around Asia, the room quality exceeds anything we'd ever expect in the US and of course so does the service. And as is so often the case when you are on business somewhere, I've been a prisoner in the hotel for two days now so i feel qualified to report on its charms. The bed is large, down covered and comfortable. The TV is large and has lots of English channels (by lots I mean lots compared to European hotels. There are at least a few movie channels some news stations, etc. I haven't studied it in depth). There is a lot of closet and drawer space. The bathroom is a amazing with a massive tub i haven't tried yet and a lovely circular stall shower with excellent pressure from the huge rainfall shower head. I am an absolute FREAK about noise and it's actually pretty quiet. I am 31 stories over a heavily trafficked road and I can hear the ubiquitous Chinese horns blaring but they sound far off in the distance. Most normal people that didn't have oversensitive spidey hearing probably wouldn't notice. I've only tried the Italian restaurant (with trepidation, LOL) and found it really good! It had a large varied menu and quite a few nice wines by the glass. However, the things that are not perfect here are the internet connection and the location. The main thing is the wireless. The speed and the spotty connection are enough to drive you mad if you are as dependent as i am. I spent hours last night trying to email presentations to a client and i am now in the business center writing this review as ironically, the internet timed out again when i tried to submit it. But....sometimes these things differ from room to room AND the business center seems pretty good so if you don't have a huge connectivity need, it will be minor for you. The other negative is the location if you are a tourist. And since i am going to be a tourist after today, I am moving to a better location near the Bund. This really isn't a place where you can walk out of the hotel and walk many places. BUT...this is Shanghai and $3 in a cab will get you just about anywhere. If you're looking for value for money, I'd stay here for sure. It's a beautiful place.

Room Tip: I'd say go for a high floor. I'm guessing that these horns would be pretty daunting on a low...

Nice modern hotel, with comfortable rooms, good internet connection and good, even though simple, Italian and Japanese Restaurants.
I have been there 3 days for meeting with various suppliers and all have been smooth.

The facilities were brand new. The rooms large, quiet and clean. Liked the iPod dock. Service was good, but some staff didn't speak English. Free wifi in the whole property. Food was above average. Location was a bit far from the subway.

I've stayed here several times, and usually try to stay here when I visit Shanghai. The rooms are very clean and spacious and the beds are comfortable. Lot's of english channels on TV. The executive lounge is well stocked and has a great breakfast. The gym is a little warm, but the equipment is is all in good shape. It's about a 45 min taxi ride from Pudong Airport - so a little far, but close to Hongqiao airport.
I will definitely be staying here again.

I've stayed at the Longement several times and overall find it good value for money in Shanghai. The rooms are large and modern with firm but comfortable beds. The TV has western cable channels.
There is a reasonably priced Italian restaurant and a small bakery/ coffee shop in the lobby.
The location of the hotel is central and approximately a 5 - 10 minute cab ride from the Bund, French Concession area and Xin Tian Di. There is a good pool and gym area.
Within a 2 minute walk there is a Starbucks and convenience store nearby.

Check where you will be spending most of your time. If anywhere near this hotel - this is a great choice. I've stayed in the 45 sqm room twice this year and find it spacious, modern and comfortable. Soft bed. Modern and open floor plan with high ceilings. There is a Starbucks across the street. The gym and pool are more than adequate. No hesitation to stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms have DVD players, but would not play USA purchased DVDs. iPod / iPhone speaker and charger wor...

Excellent service, comfortable room, good food and convenient location. Their morning breakfast buffet has two sections, one for Asian food and the other for Western food. Plently to choose from and quite tasty. Quite a viewAfter breakfast, I usually wait unil dinner for another meal. They prefer not to give you a go cup of coffee, but will if you ask nicely.

After a long day, the CO2 Cigar Bar is a treat. I rarely smoke but a good cigar once in a while with a tasty cocktail is quite nice. Try a Cosmopolitan unless you prefer an after dinner liqueur (I'm really fond of Drambuie with a cigar). Just wish it stayed open later.
