The main attraction of this 5 star hotel is not the hotel or its reataurants, but its location. It lies in a beautiful park in the middle of Shanghai, in the Gubei area.
The park is an oasis in a 20 million people urban agglomeration. The perimeter of the park is about 4 km. Inside the wall you have a water system with a circular canal and a nicely sized lake, and walking paths for a few kilometers through a botanical garden with pleasant greenery. You will meet people jogging or walking, some are fishing or doing qigong. There will be wedding parties, if lucky with the weather, then outside. Mostly you will not find the park crowded, except at the designated party areas.
One weakness is that the water system has a design flaw. There is not enough movement in the canals and the water tends to get filthy fairly soon, which leads to disturbances because of clean up work.
Despite that, this is the best option to catch fresh air in the city unless you go golfing... but the golf courses are mostly further outside town.
