This hotel is located at the center of local street market. However, it is only 5 minutes walking from the bund and Yu Yuan garden shopping area. You can find many affordable gifts around here. Yet don't expect great service or friendly smiles from the staff.

Its my second time after 2 years that i stayed again.
The Room was clean. But the Beds were Hard as most of the hotel beds in china.
The location is very good near to Yuyuan Metro Line 10. you can easy be at nanjing Lu within 5 minutes. Also 5 minutes walk to bund. The Yuyuan Garden and Around shopping just 4 minutes walk.
The reception English skills should be improved.

The hotel is near to Bund and Yuyuan garden, walk about 5-10min only and also near to Metro Yuyuan station.about 6mins walk distance. The room for deluxe twin is big and very clean. I like the bathtub on the bath room so much. Breakfast for two person is good. I stay here for 2 night, just to complain is the aircon is too hot for our room.always 25 degree and can not control by ourself.

At first this hotel seems quite strange as the entrance is on a back-road (not on renmin Road itself) and all you see when entering is a bell-boy and an elevator. Reception is on 8.th floor and when you enter that you can see that this is a nice hotel.
The front-desk service is good and people are friently and helpful (most of them at least). Their spoken English is not that good, but they make an effort to make it understandable and to understand you.
We did not try the restaurants but did have their breakfast buffet every day and that was very nice. Don't expect a full continental breakfast as it mostly contains Asian dishes. The food is however really nice and there are lots of things to choose from.
Rooms are not the biggest in the world but if you get the usual hard chinese bed + desk + large tv (with HBO, Cinemea MAX and other international channels) and free cable internet (wifi only in the lobby).
If you are lucky you get one of the rooms with a view to The Bund (We had the rooms 1207+1208 and those had a fantastic view in the nighttime). At the time we were there, they did however work on a new building in front of the hotel (in the direction of The bund) so the view might get limited by that in the near future.
Best thing about the hotel is the location. 3-4mins of walk and you are at the bund. 5 mins and you are at the entrance of the old city or in the YuYuan Garden. 5-8mins of walk on Renmin road and you will be at the metro station entrance.
All the interesting things (for tourists) are close by which is very nice.
If you want to go to chinese markets with all the usual souvenir things + clothes + tons of other stuff, then just cross Renmin road and find the entrance to the two buildings there. Both have 4-6 floors of small shops with those kind of things (mostly with prices much lower than on the markets in Old Town and other tourist places - Remember to Bargain on the price!).
I would definitely stay here again if I came to visit Shanghai.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side facing The Bund and on the higher floors have a nice view over The Bund.

The hotel is close to my work place and Yu Yuan Garden. It is 10-minute walk from the Yu Yuan Metro Station - okay if you don't have a bulky luggage. Breakfast is super expensive (RMB 88), so I didn't try, although on my first day they wrongly put the breakfast tickets in my room (but I then returned).

The room is small, but appears comfortable. The cleaning of the room, however, is only average. The window was not closed after the room was cleaned on one day, and I had to live with a mosquito for the next two nights! There were also bed buds around, biting my legs and arms.

Staff at the concierge are not very polite. One showed impatience when I asked for the password for wifi access on the 8/F (where the concierge is and the only place having wifi access in the hotel ). She spoke too fast that I had to ask her twice. The other didn't even look at me when he talked to me when I checked out - I think this is something very basic, isn't it?

I also suspect that staff used the room next to mine as a common room. In two nights I found there was noise of mahjong, music, and people chatting and shouting in the room. When someone smoked in that room (I suspect), the smell passed to my room. I would not expect this happened if I booked a non-smoking room.

The room rate is not cheap from my perspective. However, since I had stayed in a hostel that costs only RMB250 and the room is terrible, I can only say that you have to accept this for the money you pay for.

Good location for sightseeing, although not easy for cab drivers to find. We took a cab from the airport, and luckily had the name and address in Chinese characters. Otherwise they had no idea where it was. Once at the hotel, ask for cards that have the address on it to show taxi drivers. Hotel staff does not speak good English and were not helpful. Hotel was a great value, very clean. The room was small, but enough space for a couple. The bed was very hard, but I have heard all are like that in China. Breakfast was not included, and was quite expensive. The only bad taxi (dilapidated car, bad driver, no seat belts) was the taxi the hotel set up for us to the airport.
