This hotel has a great location on the Puxi side for exploring Shanghai. Getting there is an RMB90 taxi ride for Hongqiao airport (domestic) or RMB45 taxi from the maglev train terminal (Pudong airport international). Take printout of hotel name / address in Chinese for your taxi driver.

Pros - Across the road is People's Park (Shanghai Museum--worth a visit), the Shanghai metro, Nanjing Road (popular street for restaurants, shopping that is busy late and feels safe in the evening, the Singapore "Bread Talk" chain is good for their fresh baking). About a 15 minute walk to the Bund where you can see the Pudong skyline illuminated in the evening. (The Shanghai Aquarium and Pearl Tower on the Pudong side are also quite good.)

A shopping mall (New World Center) connects to the hotel and has ATMs, fast food in the basement and more restaurants on higher floors.

Hotel has good pool area suitable for swimming lengths and a well equipped gym.

Cons - Breakfast / room service expensive for China (American breakfast about RMB140, burger and fries RMB144 with service charge). Nearby options may be limited early in the morning. The mall next door is closed until 9:30am.

Overall would stay here again.

My 14 year old son and I stayed in this hotel for four nights. The hotel is very centrally located - two minutes walk to the Nanjing pedestrian area, across the road from the People's Park and the metro station, which is very handy for access to the airport, as well as for generally getting around because Shanghai is big! The reception is efficient (I had pre-booked & pre-paid through Qantas holidays and there were no difficulties). We were allocated a non-smoking room, which was comfortable and reasonably spacious (two comfy chairs as well as a desk). Service was very responsive: we had difficulty with reception of English language channels on the TV; within 5 minutes of calling to report the difficulty, two servicemen arrived and replaced the TV in a few minutes. Breakfast is provided in an elegant dining room on the first floor over-looking the People's Park, and the range of options is extensive (every conceivable option including fruit, pastries, cereal, eggs to order, cheese, french toast, Chinese dumplings, Japanese noodles etc). There is a very nice swimming pool which we used daily. Complementary newspapers provided each day. The hotel was very accommodating of a late check-out because of a night flight. An excellent place to stay.

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at:

Location: right on the People's square, the pedestrian zone of Nanjing Road begins here and you have access to all the shopping. Attached to the hotel, there is a gigantic shopping mall. A short taxi ride will take you to the Yuyuan gardens, it is better then walking and really cheap.

My room was amazing. I had a suite on the 35th floor with wonderful views over the city. There was a business area with free internet. The bathroom was gigantic, with a bath area, a shower area and a toilet area. One night I checked out the Spa, highly recommended! They are open till 3 a.m and have a variety of treatments. The breakfast buffet is so rich! You have a wide choice of European and Asian food. We also tried the seafood buffet at the top floor restaurant and the international buffet at the other restaurant. Both amazing, with so many choices.

The staff was very helpfull and friendy. Always helped me get to my destination.

Arrived to find that the hotel wanted to charge me much more than Qantas had quoted. Luckily I'd read some reviews on Trip Advisor about Shanghai and had my emails printed out with me- eventually the capitulated but not without taking it away and discussing with management and letting me know they would honour it a few days later!

The first room they put me in was low and overlooked the old market so it was noisy. I asked to be accomodated higher up and they have me a much larger room, much higher up, still with the same view but it was great.

The breakfast was AMAZING and the German chef did a great job on the buffet. Plenty of tables and the gym was also adequate although not large and not many running machines.

The location across from the new world square is brilliant too. Would stay here again. Just be pushy.

I stayed in Shanghai for studies for two weeks and we were allowed to stay in the new World Radissaon in Shanghai. It is directly located next to a big park and to the main metro station. The Putong View can bereached within a 15 minutes walk. Fake market, restaurants and shopping centers, everything is within walking distance. I also like the indor pool for swimming my 2 K every day

Excellent hotel in Shanghai in a prime location, especially for people who like to shop. The staff was extrememly helpful, more than I've ever encountered at a hotel. In fact, the help we got from the concierge staff really contributed to our ability to enjoy Shanghai. The room we had was very comfortable and spit and polish clean. We got upgraded to a high floor without any hassle. Bed was very comfortable, shower and airconditioning were excellent. I hightly recommend this hotel and would gladly return on any future trip to Shanghai. As for Shanghai, we went there on vacation. First time in China and enjoyed every minute. Can't wait to get back.
