We stayed here as part of a tour with one of Shanghai’s travel agency. The hotel is located near some of the major attractions. This was our last stop of our 6days tour and we will be going back to Malaysia the next day afternoon.

The staff was NOT helpful, especially those who work in the restaurant.

House keeping & Lobby staff - We called to request for a toilet paper at about 1pm and were told it would be sent to our room. We went out shopping at 2pm, since they have not sent us the toilet paper we request again at the lobby counter on our way out. BUT when we came back around 11.30pm we still can't see one toilet paper in the bathroom. We called but still no result after 30 minutes. In the end we went down to the lobby requested again and waited on the spot until we got it.

We had breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant which was included in our tour. When we were entering the restaurant, there was a waitress saw us coming but she turned back & ignored us. They gather aside talking and not doing stuff. In another words LAZY. Besides that their uniforms looks dirty and the table cloths dirty with stains and etc. The food served was in buffet style with extremely very little choices and not hygienic. After breakfast our driver came and picks us up at 12pm to the airport. We started feeling uncomfortable on our way to the airport and its getting worst while queuing for our boarding pass. We don’t feel like having lunch and we felt helpless (no energy). We didn’t even eat anything on board just tired. We just rest until we arrived at Malaysia’s airport. My family came and picked us up, instead heading home we went straight to the 24hours clinic. Unfortunately both of us got food poison. This was the worst buffet breakfast I can remember.

I seldom write reviews BUT this was the worst hotel I came across and I think I should let everyone knows about it. Travelling supose to be fun and relaxing and not suffering.

TRUST me the photos shown on the internet introducing the hotel were 100% different from the actual. The photos on the internet looks like it were taken in 10 or 20 years ago.

Try to do research on the photos taken by the travelers currently.

I stayed here as part of a tour with GAP Adventures. The hotel is located within walking distance of some of the major attractions. Also, some of the rooms have a great view. However, the immediate area around the hotel is questionable, with massage parlors and the like a couple of doors down.

The rooms were not very clean. Two people in our group changed their room after finding a roach in one of their beds. I saw a big roach in our bathroom.

The staff was also very unhelpful. It took repeated requests before we could get a second key card to our room. We asked for a hair dryer, and we were told it would be sent to our room. When we called back 20 minutes later, they told us they didn't have a hair dryer. I also tried to get an iron, and I was told they didn't have one. We asked to use a computer in the business center to access the internet, and we were told that the business center was "broken." I tried to change money at the hotel's exchange desk, and I was told that they were out of money.

I have written many reviews on the site and tend to give high ratings. However, this was the worst service I can remember. I have to give it a 1.

I stayed as part of a tour and was really impressed. Big and clean room, plenty of lifts (was a problem in some other places). Reception staff were helpful and spoke good English. Supermarket opposite was convenient. Good location for the Bund and Nanjing St - approx 10 min walk away. Only slight drawback was the hot water - which was very warm but not steaming hot... but I like a very hot shower!

.A Chinese local recommended this hotel to us.
This hotel is approx a 10 minute walk away from Nanjing road. Even though rooms are dated they are clean and of a good size. Hair dryers are provided along with a mini bar fridge stocked with basics which are very reasonably priced. English was spoken by reception staff though when I called housekeeping for a towel- they didn't speak English so I had to pop down to reception to do this.
The hot pot restaurant attached to the hotel is good value and served tasty food with menus in Chinese and English.
Our room cost RMB366 for a triple- what a bargain!
We would definitely stay there again

I booked the Piaoying Hotel online, mostly because of the price, location and the photos looked great!
On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the hotel looked - comparable to 4 or even 5 star hotels I've stayed in, yet for a fraction of the cost! The hotel was within walking distance of Nanjing Road, so this was very convenient. However, due to renovations on the 8th floor, our room smelt so badly of paint and glue that my partner & I started to get headaches. Changing rooms proved to be an EXTREME nightmare and we were shown 4 other rooms - either they too stank of paint or were single rooms or had two single beds. We had paid for a double room & were told there were no more standard double rooms left and that we would have to pay to upgrade. What the staff didn't seem to want to understand was that it wasn't our fault that our room was unfit to stay in, and that it was the hotel's responsibility. After much complaining (almost screaming, to get through to them) we were given another room, which was a standard double - so they had lied to us.
So lovely hotel, but dreadful, rude, uncaring, unprofessional and very impolite staff with no customer service skills. The staff in a hotel don't usually make or break a stay for me, but in this case, they did.
