Salvo Hotel Shanghai
Ranked #430 of 5,160 Hotels in Shanghai
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Salvo Hotel in Shanghai was a successful choice. We lived on the 27th floor in an Executive Business Suite with view over the Bund. The view of the Bund and the Pudong skyline was breathtaking, especially at night. The Pudong skyline is like a symbol for the city and it was great to see it as soon as you looked out the room's panoramic windows.
The hotel probably have one of Shanghai's best locations. It was barely 10 minutes’ walk to Nanjing Road and to the Bund. It took a little more than 10 minutes to walk to People’s Park and it was about fifteen minutes’ walk to Shanghai Old Town. Around the hotel are genuine Chinese neighborhoods. The staff was not very flattering and the breakfast could have been better, but it was still decent.

Room Tip: Select Executive Business Suite with view over the Bund

Overall was friendly and tried to be helpful .it was appreciated.
One thing that they would need to change are the gym hours 9am to 11pm...as a westerner we have jet lag and i wake up 3 or 4 the first few days and would like to use the gym ...but its closed

This hotel is close to downtown Shanghai, about two blocks from the East Nanjing Road stop on line two. When I arrived, the check-in was kind of indifferent. Really to busy to be bothered. The lobby decor is kind of tired. I thought crud, what did I get myself into? I was quite surprised to find the room was well-decorated and clean. The room was divided into two parts, with a pocket door to close off the sleeping section. Good internet service for China. Large bath with soaking tub. Breakfast was okay. Overall it can't be beat for the price.

We recently stayed at the Salvo Hotel for 5 nights. The hotel itself is in a great location. It's very close to the bund and in easy walking distance to the people's square and Nanjing road. The rooms are clean and spacious and there is broadband in the room but if you are wanting to access wifi you must be in the lobby or on the 31st floor.
This is very much a business hotel. If you are looking for help with tourist activities you need to either work it out yourself (we used guide books) or stay somewhere with a tour desk. The staff speak limited English but they are friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel.

The location of this hotel with the price of the rooms makes this a great combination.

As other posters have mentioned, it is a couple of blocks away from all the action. Nanjing Road, The Bund is walking distance and Yuyuan Gardens. Also near major subway stations including People's Square.

We got a mini suite, which was a nice touch. You will find that it is not quite up to five star luxury but it is pretty good for Chinese standards. We found the cleanliness to be OK but not great. Amenities were very basic. These are not deal breakers because the price was great.

Breakfast was OK. Nothing to rave about.

In summary, this hotel is the perfect example of average but considering its location and price, it merits a very good rating.

Nice room, separate lounge with PC, two TV's. Great shower and jet bath, all the goodies provided in the bathroom. Walking distance to everywhere. Nice executive check in and lounge. Only downfall was breakfast but then again it was enough. Will defiantly stay here again.

Room Tip: booked with Agoda and got a good deal.

Good value for a small suite, with a large bath and fancy shower. Attractive Chinese decor. Very well located in the central district, within walking distance of most places that the 2 - 4 day visitor will want to visit.
The breakfast had a good variety of food; we did not use the restuarants for dinner.
