This hotel is located in easy walking distance to East Nanjing Road, The Bund, MTR and much more.
The price was very reasonable and included breakfast which was served buffet style on the 31st floor, you could help yourself to as much as you liked from Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, Hash Browns, Noodles, Rice and more, it was plentiful, although it was not always as hot as I would have liked. Additionally you could make your own toast and there were pastries and biscuits as well as fresh fruit. A good selection of fruit juices and Tea and Coffee were there for self service and occasionally staff would walk around and top you up with the hot beverages. The only problem that we found with the breakfast room was that it could get very crowded at times and it could be a little difficult to find a vacant table.
The same restaurant was open for dining at night, but my one experience there was not as impressive and the bar service was extremely poor with the bar staff incapable of making the drinks listed on their own wine list.
The rooms were a good size with a separate sitting room and very clean. The bathroom was a decent size, the shower and separate corner bath were located in a wet room setting with the basin and toilet outside. Disposable toothbrush and paste as well as a comb and slippers were supplied daily and there were towelling robes in the closet.
A free bottle of water was supplied daily. There was a small fridge with the usual drinks for purchase available.
The staff were all friendly and helpful and I would use this hotel again if I were to return to Shanghai.

I stayed five nights at this excellent hotel located in the middle of Shanghai. I thought it was a very nice first class hotel with large room and excellent service. The staff was very good and the lounge at the top of the hotel was nice. It is located in the very center of Shanghai with everything around you and very close to Nanjing Road. Recommended!!

Room Tip: Choose Business room.

I booked a room for 10 days at this hotel thru booking.com with the possibility to cancel in advance. Then I had to cancel the room.

Both the hotel and booking.com told me that the other party was not willing to cancel the payment. I lost my 800€.

Room Tip: don't use booking.com

The Salvo Hotel is ideally located in downtown Shanghai with shops and restaurants a-plenty within reasonable walking distance.

When we first entered our room it definitely had the 'Wow' factor. It appears that a standard room at this hotel is equivalent to a executive room in most other hotels and we were very impressed. it was extremely spacious with a bedroom area that comfortably housed two double beds and a separate lounge area with comfortable sofa. writing desk ansd second television.
The bathroom was equally welcoming, with a large corner bath and an very good shower that doused you at all angles.
The views from the window were impressive, particlarly at night and the bed was comfortable and afforded a good night's sleep.

Breakfast is taken on 31st floor with a commanding view over the city. Sadly, breakfast was nothing special and this is compounded by the lack of service in the breakfast room which let the hotel down a little - in fact, on our second morning here there simply was no service at all with diners having to get their own coffee/tea and dirty plates left to pile up on your table as no-one collected them. Just a little more service would have warranted a five star mark from me - as it is, I'd give 2 stars for the meal-time service and 6 stars for the room !

In the Salvo Hotel you can find BIG rooms. The business roos has a living room with a big TV screen and computer and secretary. You have a lot of space to receive someone in business or to work. Good breakfast, sometimes too much crowded. Staff must learn better english.

My husband and I stayed here four nights in 28th floor view of Bund executive suite. Room was very clean. Spa tub. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful..spoke some English. David from conncierge was especially helpful. He confirmed plane reservations for me after I tried to do so via computer unsuccessfully. He took the time to call and was done in 5 minutes with a phone call. He is the easiest person to communicate with.
In the lobby area, there is an office for purchasing original Chinese paintings. We got a discount card to get one painting for free unframed or pay a little more for one on a scroll. Breakfast buffet is on 31st floor so the view is excellent. There are so many choices...they will make an omlet as you wait. Sausage, bacon, hash browns, fruits, three juices, cold cereal, rolls...as well as Chinese porridge, steamed buns, noodles.

Location is excellent. 15 minute walk to People's Park Shanghai Museum, 5 minute walk to Bund, 10 minute walk to Yu Yuan area for best tourist shops. Metro station entrance is below People's Park. We walked everywhere. There is a street that sells live fish, turtles, eels just one block from hotel...ask concierge.
We took tthe rain to Suzhou...20 minute ride from Shanghai. Take a taxi to ShangTang Street....a street lined with small shops next to the canal. It is lit up at night with lanterns. A must see place. There are boats for a ride along the canal there.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have great view of Bund and PuDong skyline.
