One of the most interesting museums that I have ever seen around the world! Gives you a fantastic insight in the city planing and development practises in China. The pictures of The Bund from different decades are mind blowing!

If you have been in Shanghai or will be in Shanghai for any lengthy duration this is well worth a visit. The scale model of the city is really cool. I spent quite a bit of time there enjoying the detail and complexity of the model. Google earth could do the same thing, but this is still very amazing. The displays below are interesting but for me it was all about the city model.

What a great spot to see how one of the fastest growing areas in the world is handling its growth. This was a "diamond in the rough" as they call it. My business travelling companions wanted to go so I tagged along and I'm glad I did.

See where this city started (think New Orleans in the 20's) where it's now (think LA and Chicago combined) and where it's heading (think Honk Kong 2030...)

A must while in Shanghai. It shows you how the city has changed over the years, comparing for example the Bund in 1800's to 1930's to present day and future plans for the city. Many videos to watch, an interesting 360 degree show of Shanghai and many interactive displays.
Seeing a model town of Shanghai set out for you to look over both daytime and night time is very good.
Outside the museum is an escalator and stairs that take you to a reconstructed 1930's shopping village but selling tourist junk.
