“Historical”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

Easy location to visit and free. Historically significant and nicely restored. Provides some basic background on those who attended the first congress of the CCP and their eventual places in history. Close to Xintiandi restaurants and shops for those who are interested in what happened here just over 90 years ago.

“Worth a look”
Reviewed June 29, 2012 via mobile

About the only evidence that Shanghai is in communist China was found in this cultural centre. Fascinating to see how the CCP was the "logical" endpoint of all China's history.
It's free and takes 20 min to see.

While youl may not agree with it all, this is where it all began It's in Chinese as are most attractions in China,, so you do more looking than understanding. You can say you've been there!

“Nothing really to see here”
Reviewed January 23, 2012

As with most things in China, you only see the pretty side on the surface. There is nothing really interesting to see here.

“Totally changed!”
Reviewed January 7, 2012

In 1989, I walked down to this place as there was no subway then. Only after asking the way several times I could reach there. Only 2 or 3 visitors including myself was there.
The area was not so clean i.e. road was unpaved, half naked men were walking, an elderly woman spit to my feet and I had to find a person to get the entrance ticket as he was not so interested in selling it. But that was why I could feel the atmosphere of the historic place imaging the time and was greatly moved. I visited this place again after 22 years and found that the building was totally renovated and elegant but it looks like just an amusement park near Xintiandi where many restaurants and gift shops are.
Very disappointed.
