Owner description: The Multimedia Theatrical Spectacular 'ERA Intersection of Time' has been performed since its debut at Shanghai Circus World in September 2005. It is unique and comparable to the tradition of the Broadway Musical. It is in fact a stunning acrobatic show combining traditional Chinese arts and modern technologies. The performers present Chinese acrobatics, martial arts and dance perfectly in harmony with the music, sound, lighting, and other special effects, which include a water screen. While you marvel at the highly proficient skills of the performers, the story of China's evolution from its ancient past to the future is told. Hence, the title 'Intersection of Time', as the viewpoint of the audience is set in the present between the past and the future. The performance provides a wonderful insight into China's ancient culture and civilization, with sections about Sinan, an ancient Chinese invention for telling directions, soothsaying and conjuring. There is a fantastic section showing an acrobatic program which has elements performed since the far off days of the Han Dynasty (206BC–220AD). With porcelain jars and vats as their stage properties the performers give an overview of Chinese porcelain culture and greater understand of the country's name of 'China'.Modern achievements that are also showcased include Shanghai Donghai Cross-Sea Bridge, Maglev Train, and Shenzhou 5, China's first manned space mission. From these, you can see the amazing development and bright future of Shanghai and the whole country. The 100-minute performance shows not only artistic skills, but also creativity. Aided by multimedia including vision, original live music, sound effects, smell effect, air conditioning and lighting,

“Nothing amazing, all has been seen and done before”

We went to the show after havong read reviews and advices...
When we arrived we realised it was for tourists only, which was already setting the tone for the tacky ambiance...
Then the show started...
The artists aren't bad (although, they are not amazing), but all they showed us had done and seen millions time before...the plates spinning, rollerblades, ten girls on a bike, contortion, they dropped the Chinese yoyo about 4 times, dropped the hats they were juggling with twice...
We do not recommend it really...it's naff and the seats aren't even cheap!

“Only in China!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

If you want to see what you have not experienced elsewhere - go to Shanghai Circus World!

The motor bike race of six or mare bikes within a ball of steel with a diameter of possibly 8m blows your mind!

Theoretically, this show is not feasible. It halts your heart beats.

But then, it's China!

In China "can do"!

How, don't ask, just see!

“Unbelievable - still astounded with what these acrobatics can do.”

We attended the shanghai era circus last week. It was fabulous.

These talented performers kept us amazed from the moment the show started until it ended. I don't want to give away the high points of the show, but the motor cycle act still has us talking a week later :)

The acrobatic team within the show had us spellbound. Their talent to get air without trampolines and slip through circles had me shaking my head. How did they do that!!!

We booked the tickets online through their website. There were other websites offering discounted tickets but we were uncertain if they were reputable. Tickets were booked approx 2 weeks prior to our travel and we were given front row tickets in the section we bought.

Online ticket collection is down a set of stairs under the main arrival area. Ticket collection was fast and efficient on presentation of the emailed confirmation.

Show starts punctually - don't be late :)

“Stunning human capabilities!”

Stunning abilities of performers and a must to show to visiting friends and family if you live in Shanghai. My only problem was that building that houses the show is very run down, and doesn't seem to offer great facilities, especially if I compare to Chaoyang Theater show in Beijing. The concept reminds a bit too much of Cirque du Soleil show, but with much lower budget for band, costumes and set design. A great show nonetheless!

“To Have Been to a Cirucs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

This attraction appears in multiple forms on TripAdvisor, so I will post the same review in more than one place.

I was a little disappointed at first to have missed the insane motorcycle show in the Shanghai Circus World, but seeing the acrobats in the ERA show made up for it. The stunts they performed were insane and the execution was superb. They jumped through hoops, fit in small spaces and did all sorts of stuff that most people would never dream of—but I won't spoil it; come and see for yourself. The Circus World is located right outside the Circus World metro station, but like everywhere in China you need to walk a bit to reach the final destination—just look where the dome is and go there.

The main problem here is that you will need to shell out at least 300 RMB for a decent seat, making it one of the most expensive attractions not just in Shanghai, but in all of China. Moreover, all of the seats are far from the stage (I suppose this is a problem in all circuses), so even the VIP seats for 600 RMB probably don't offer the view that some people would imagine.

Still, I don't regret visiting the place at all, and it's a rare opportunity to have visited a real high-quality circus.
