I realy enjoyed the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium. The displays are amazing and you get to walk through all types of aquatic landscapes. I especially loved the glasstube.
However, the visitor experience is destroyed by the amount of other visitors and their disrespect for both animals and visitors. Many people hit the glass to get attention from the fish and push you away from the window to see more. The aquarium's management should think about more staff to supervise the visitors actions AND should reduce entrance to a limited number per hour so that everyone can experience the treasures inside. The price is extremely high but this is common at Chinese attractions.

Terrific aquarium, lots to see and very well done. I especially liked the tunnel over the escalator as you go from one level to another. We went on a weekday and it was very quiet. A great choice for a rainy day.

I fell inlove with the 120 meter tunnel that took us through the coastal reef, open ocean, shark cove, and coral reef. Amazing Experience, great value for the money! We were in the area to see the Oriental Pearl and i am happy we ended up seeing the aquarium too. It was a little crowded and the cues were long but it was worth the wait. The exhibits were very interesting also. I remained with no battery on both my camera and my phone but i still have the best memories there.

We chose the aquarium because of it's tunnel, but since it was so close to the pearl, we ended up doing both. Try to go on a weekday to skip the crowds and plan your day around the shows and feedings since the ticket is one way (you can't turn around!) so if you don't want to miss something, then plan ahead. All of the animals seem to be happy and well taken care of and the tunnel is awesome. Remember your camera! A bit pricey and takes about 2-3 hrs depending upon shows and crowds to go through the entire thing. Definitely a fun place to take a family or a group of friends. You can go to the aquarium during the day and then to the oriental pearl as the sun sets for some awesome photos. Both places take credit card which makes it easier for large families.

I'd recommend the Shanghai aquarium. It's a little pricey but well done. The shark cove and penguin exhibits were great. Everything seemed very professional and humane.
