“A fun aquarium”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

We chose the aquarium because of it's tunnel, but since it was so close to the pearl, we ended up doing both. Try to go on a weekday to skip the crowds and plan your day around the shows and feedings since the ticket is one way (you can't turn around!) so if you don't want to miss something, then plan ahead. All of the animals seem to be happy and well taken care of and the tunnel is awesome. Remember your camera! A bit pricey and takes about 2-3 hrs depending upon shows and crowds to go through the entire thing. Definitely a fun place to take a family or a group of friends. You can go to the aquarium during the day and then to the oriental pearl as the sun sets for some awesome photos. Both places take credit card which makes it easier for large families.

“Good experience at the Shanghai aquarium”
Reviewed March 25, 2014

I'd recommend the Shanghai aquarium. It's a little pricey but well done. The shark cove and penguin exhibits were great. Everything seemed very professional and humane.

“Shanghai Ocean Aquarium”

I must stress go online an plan your day around the show times and map. The Aquarium is a one entry-one way ticket for the day so if you want to see a show plan it carefully as you cant back track. The aquarium it self was amazing! Great value: 160yuan for adults. Fantastic exhibits! My partner and I spent 3 hours there today and we had a ball :) If you get the chance go! Go on a weekday, at 9 when it opens to beat the crowds.

“Not just another acquarium”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

I normally don't go to aquariums. But I made an exception because the tunnel. And I was certainly not disappointed. There are is a wide variety of species and they have been segregated in different zones. I liked the polar zone the most. The Jellyfish section is also enticing. The movement inside the place is in one-way only. There are three floors and if cant go back to a floor once you exit it. So, make sure you seen all before you leave a floor.

“Great tunnels, but one-way only ?!?”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

The tunnels were the highlight, however, the fish variety could have been better, and none of the sharks or rays were particularly big. Also got a headache and a sore neck by the end of the tunnels (heard many others complaining of the same symptoms).

The aquarium has a one-way only policy, meaning you can only travel in one direction, and does not allow you to double back. This means you must time your visit carefully if you want to see any of the shows of feedings.
