There are many reviews here talking up the buffet breakfast. True that there is great variety but it seems that they are unaware of one of the most important things for a hot buffet, heat!
All of the hot food was either stone cold or just luke warm except for the omelette bar where they cook the eggs fresh to order. Even if you wait until they put out fresh lots of food, it's already cold when they bring it out. After spending the first day feeling queasy after breakfast and being unable to eat anything else for the rest of the day, I was cautious for the rest of my stay and just ate freshly cooked eggs and toast and pastries. The room itself was quite good and I enjoyed the very firm mattress. Unfortunately the windows were grubby but thats probably due to how fast the pollution dirties them up after a clean. I stayed 5 days all up and would stay there again.
One thing to beware of is the ATM on the ground floor. When you make a transaction it gives you your card back after you have your cash and receipt. Because i'm used to getting the card back before the money, i forgot to remove the card and of course it did not get handed in and i had to cancel my credit card. Luckily i had enough cash to fix up the hotel extras and get to the airport as it was my last day there when i realised the card was gone.

Spent there two nights, but cannot say it is good value for money. Doesn't live up to normal five star asian hotel, and for example service was bad with very limited english skills by the staff. Room was ok and spacious, but bathroom didn't work very well and there was water lying on the floor all the time. Executive lounge was poor when it comes to service and offerings. Will try another hotel next time.

A majestic lobby is welcoming you when arriving to the hotel. The service level is very high and the check-in went very smoothly.

Rooms are OK, not big but big enough for two persons. My opinion is that the rooms are on a standard level and they don't give you a luxurious feeling.

The gym was good and there's also a really nice outdoor pool next to the gym. This could be relaxing and cooling place during hot days in Shanghai.

Breakfast was good, many choices but a lot of it is warm food rather than European traditional things. This is of course nice since the dishes are traditional Chinese dishes but personally I have some difficulties eating food as breakfast.

The location is good and there are some restaurants nearby.

Hotel is quite nice, rooms are spacious, good views from high floors, good location for local markets and bars. Not too far from the Bund. Service good. Everything good, nothing bad, nothing exceptional!

Shanghai and Pudong are full of hotels so for me it is location that set the first criteria when choosing one. Traffic can make a difference whether you are sitting extra hour in jam or alternatively with cold beer or massage. Well, all of you, if not familiar with the town, check from map where you need to be and get hotel as close as possible.

Purple Mountain hotel compete well in group of four start business hotels. Overall rooms are good size and I like the dark wood used in furnishing. Facilities for keeping your shirts and shock organized are provided, washroom is specious and some rooms share the light of the room all the way to the bathtub having glass wall separating them.. sure there is curtains for privacy when needed.

There is not much difference in rooms whether booked into a executive floor of a normal floor. Executive floor gives benefits like private check-in and out facility at 26th floor, lounge for evening drinks and snacks (included executive room package). Breakfast in lounge is good way to start a day without hassle of hundred other busy brekie biters.

Compared to next door hotel, in this hotel foreign traveler will be understood and served in English - sometimes with better, sometimes with less perfect, but good enough. Food in hotel is good standard but not gourmet.

Next door is new building full of restaurants. Just a walk across the street and you have selection from local Chinese cuisines to Japanese, Western... I haven't yet explored them all.

Hotel gym was rebuild two years ago and I was positively surprised of the good quality. Surely my favorite after office hour relaxation. At same floor you can find spa which is clean, but I haven't yet got a good sports massage. For relaxation ok, but they could get some better trained masseurs.

Prices of this hotel fluctuates seasonally and according to booking rate. Check you pricing every time before booking to be aware spikes on busy season.

Room Tip: My favorite floors are 25th to 27th. They are not too high that you would need to wait for a lift on...

This hotel offers you all you require for a comfortable stay in a metropolis such as Shanghai. Great value for money. Clean, decent-sized rooms with enough storage space for a week's stay. Bathroom well-equiped, though typical asian size (read: small). Quiet rooms, so noise from the streets very limited.
If you don't require a lot of support during your stay from hotel staff, you are ok. Language skills are limited, but the will is there to help.
Breakfast is good, well-assorted.
My colleagues told me the gym was ok, but not all machines were working. Unfortunately the pool was being refurbished when I was there.
Definitely worth coming back here for future trips to Shanghai.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floors to reduce and away from lift.

A great international hotel in Pudong. Close to all Pudong places of interest. Beautiful room, great view, excellent breakfast buffet with full array of western and Chinese foods. Room service prompt and accurate. Staff helpful, efficient and multilingual. Plan on staying there again soon.

Room Tip: Buy the breakfast package and get additional perks.
