This stay has changed my view on Marriott Hotel! The hotel room is spacious and clean, all utilities are modern style. I did not expect a good breakfast but their buffet breakfast has a wide variety and taste good as well. Swimming pool is the best! I took my family there for a weekend getaway at Shanghai and for the value this is a great choice.

I was at the Marriott Pudong East for 2 nights as part of a business trip to Shanghai.

Good:

- Exec Lounge has great food. I stayed in the Marriott City Centre and the food was lousy in comparison.
- Very attentive staff - they actively engaged and seemed to really want to help.
- Hotel is new and feels like it. I was in Suite - the decor is a bit dowdy for a new hotel, but it's still all new.
Big gym - with a Smith Machine alongside good selection of weights and machines. The cable machine could do with more attachments - but that's the gym freak in me being picky.

Not so good:

Room service food was average. I would have hoped that choosing asian food from the menu would have guaranteed me good food - sadly not. Oily and lacking clean flavours.

As in all Asian cities with 5+ mio people you do expect to get the best possible hotel service when on business trip. This one was really the best. Situated in a very nice city area, this hotel is almost a "Beverly Hills" experience in Shaghai.
The service is great, the staff is very pleasant and service minded.
The only thing I hated there were eleveators - the cards were just not working properly back then...
What is most important value vs. price is amazing...

The hotel is located in a upscale community in Pudong, but away from city center and financial areas. The conceirge told me that the closest subway station is 25 minute on foot away. So not a good one for the tourists.

But even though, this hotel, still, has proved itself as a special place with attentive service.
The lougne occupying the entire 21F is so wonderful, where you could find plenty choices of soft drinks, coffee, tea, fruits and snacks. Since there were not so many guests, I invited some of my peers to come upstairs. The waitress politely told us what the price will be for the non-elite member or non-executive floor guests. And she even accompanied us until the end of business.
The lounge runs 24Hrs, and even after the waitress leave around midnight, you could still grab some drinks, fruits and snack by yourself.

The fitness center is well euipped, but the pool is still quite small.

One funny thing in particular that some of my peers minded, was the "egg" cooking during breakfast. There was long waiting queue in the open kitchen for the fried egg or omelette. But it seems the chef needs some skill training in making fried eggs with both ordinary looking and cooking speed.

We checked in were greeted with a smile and desk staff that was ready with iur room, we immediately went to the lounge as our flight was delayed and we missed dinner. The staff of this hotel and the staff in the Lounge make this hotel what it is! They are friendly, smiling all the time, courteous and very efficient! Their service was spectacular, including the chef who helped arrange for us to watch the US Open Golf tournament in the lounge.
The rooms are clean, it is a little odd entering the bathroom first but that way every room has a view. The water, snack in the room and letter from the management all make the visit that much more special!
The location of the Metro is perfect. You can reach three lines at the Century Avenue stop and exit 7 was a short walk from the hotel. My husband visits this hotel for business and will continue to do so. Thank you Marriott for an excellent stay!

The Marriott Hotel in Jinqiao area is brand new. Rooms are very spacious and the bathroom is equipped of everything necessary. I appreciate the quiteness during the night and the quality of linen in the bed. Air conditioning was not very easy to control or at least I did not find the way to swith it off. At walking distance it is possible to find a lot of restaurants and some large supermarket. Not all personnel is very fluent in English but they have been always very kind and helpful.

I spent about 10 days at the Marriott. Its a new hotel. The rooms are lovely, very comfortable and spotless. The service at the hotel was exceptional. The room service menu was good and had a decent selection of typical western food. The actual food was very well presented and was delicious. The concierge was very helpful especially since I don't speak a word of Chinese. They were always willing to write the addresses or speak to the taxi drivers on my behalf. I wouldn't think twice about staying here again, I loved it!
