“Not living up to its former glory ~ brunch review”
Reviewed December 22, 2012 via mobile

Don't expect the former dongping road branch here at this new place. The atmosphere is simply not here. No longer cosy for sure.

First off, their receptionist has no understanding of reservation. We made a booking and still land up waiting for 30min. Only to find that the much waited for table was not set and dirty.

Noisy like a dim sum place. So it was really not starting off well.

The former free bread plater is now no longer free. No more 3 courses set either.

Saving grace is that the food is still excellent! Flavoursome and the portions are just right. Okay maybe a little small for gentleman.

The food is still awesome, with some update to the menu.

“A good place for dinner and an excellent place for Sunday brunch”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

The selection of tapas and raciones is pretty good.
Out of the tapas we ordered, the best were the beef empanadas and the salad. However, some the the tapas - especially the tortilla - are bit too oily. The wine list is impressive for this type of restuarant but wines per glass are pretty expensive. I tried a Ribera del Duero which was one of the cheaper options. It was of excellent quality.
The food prices are reasonable taking into account the location, environment and quality.

Sometimes, there is a chance to dance to Salsa and similar music.

The Sunday brunch has been a very inspiring experience.
There is a different menu with a list of starters and a list of main dishes (You can chose one each). For desert and cafe, there is a small extra charge.

In the warmer period, the terrace has space for about 20 people and offers great views.

Service is generally good, friendly and fast.

I have been several times to this place both with friends and with clients and I definitely will go there again.
Make a reservation in advance if you come Thu/Fri/Sat for dinner or for Sunday brunch.

“Good food reasonably priced”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

I have now twice dined at Azul with my wife and it has impressed me. Unlike many tapas like places in Asia, Azul uses the tapas menu as inspiration and serves some portions that in Spain would easily be raciones or more.
Service is friendly and willing and it has become better from the first time we visited to the next. The terrace is lovely during summer nights and the inside feels cosy and welcoming and should continue to do so in the coming months.
The set menu is good value for money, but unless you are big eaters or sharing between more than one person you may be better served with individual tapas.
Wine choices and range could be better and select if possible the side away from the kitchen. Agreed in general with the other 2 reviews.
The garlic chicken is a bit too oily and we really enjoyed the chicken skewers (6 of them served in a portion).

“Excellent Roof terrace for a lazy bruch”
Reviewed October 29, 2012 via mobile

Brunch set are excellent value for less than 150rmb for 2 course and a drink plus coffee. Portions for main are very good size and thus if appetites not big, one can share the items. Was told that one can order 2 mains as 2 courses. Tonnes of expats in this cafe and around the same area cafes are good and packed with families. Sitting outdoor is nice as there's cool breeze when weather is good as the inside tend to be more stuffy. There are 2 outdoor terraces so look out for them

“nice experience”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

We enjoyed the Sunday brunch at the Azul Tapas Lounge very much! You can choose a starter and a main course from a set menue for a very reasonable price, including one drink. In a very casual set up, service staff not so experienced but at least friendly and attentive. the Tapas menue also looked very inviting and we will try it some other time.
