“A nice surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013 via mobile

Nice restaurant, I had no expectations wlaking into an Indian restaurant in the middle of Shanghai, but food was very good. Service could and should have been moreattentive though - had to wait for some time to get to our table (despite reservation). Dishes and quality of food made up for that, nice appetizers, very good prawns, chicken curry, great almond ice cream dessert.

“Great view but great food????”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

I attended this restaurant on Saturday last and was looking forward to introducing some Shanghainese people to the wonderful Indian cuisine. They selected the G Water Front so I was very enthusiastic to make comparisons to Indian food I've eaten elsewhere around the world. The first thing that caught my attention was the wonderful view onto the river. From there it went downhill. The first point was that the waiting service (the person who took our order was very pleasant) was diabolically slow to the extent that food was served cold to the table. Now I don't care who you are but the one thing you do not do is serve lamb cold because it typically congeals! I found the food lacked in flavor and the only dish that was worthy of mention where the Fish Pakora's. Four cone shaped poppadums were provided for nine people and were laughably small. Not only this but no mango chutney was served or mint raita. Instead there was some terrible sweet yogurt concoction that I have never eaten at an Indian before. We were seated at a table beside a projector screen that was switched on to sport when we arrived - a third of the way into the meal the sport switched to a documentary about people scavenging for garbage on a rubbish team. It wasn't conducive to eating and after some frantic searches to find someone we had it turned off! I will say that the food was quite cheap but I'd rather pay good money for good food. I do notice that my review is at odds with other people's review - perhaps we were highly unlucky and hit the restaurant on a bad night. However the point is that a good restaurant never has a bad night!!

Amazing food, amazing ambience, amazing service, amazing view, amazing location. Best Indian restaurant in Shanghai. It's class apart. Nothing can beat that. Must go and have a 7 star experience.

“great restaurant, would definitely go back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2012

We found this place through Trip Advisor with only a couple of reviews and we were so pleasantly surprised!!!

Felt a bit bad going for a curry in Shanghai but we've sampled a lot of the other specialities so thought we'd just go for it. Situated on the 'Cool Docks', an up and coming area with great bars, restaurants and a view of the skyline, it was nice to experience another of Shanghai's many sides.
The area itself was very quiet as it was only 7pm so we weren't sure if we were in the right place when the taxi dropped us off but we quickly found the restaurant and after looking at the menu first (to check it had our favourites and also in case it was going to be ridiculously expensive lol!) we were seated and it was already busy. We were really impressed with the decor and it had a warm, sophisticated feel without being too 'posh', even down to what the employees were wearing. We do go to a lot of high-end restaurants but when it comes to curry we just like to get stuck in!!
The service was excellent-really professional and friendly. The waitress even advised us not to order a portion each of the samosas as there was 3 of us and 4 on the plate; something they could have made money on but we appreciated her honesty as we would have been very full before we'd even started! The naan breads were top notch-they didn't have garlic naan on the menu but straight away said they could do it when we asked, and they were excellent (we ordered 7 between 3 of us and no we are not overweight-yet!)
The curries were also lovely and flavourful along with the rice and a good selection of beers.

The drinks were around 7US each which is pretty standard. The three of us paid around 60US each (inc tip) for poppadoms, chutney, 4 beers each, 1 portion samosas, 7 naan, 3 main curries and 2 rice. And not forgetting the wonderful view, service and setting.
Oh and there was an impressive table setting involving a couple of goldfish!

Really great place, would definitely go back.
