The happening place in Shanghai. Shopping paradise from street vendors to big malls and you get almost everything here. The right place to see young Chinese moving happily.....Get a seat on the bench and enjoy people watching.
There is toy train running there for about 2 Yan, think so.

A must visit place in Shanghai.

This is a long shopping street, with a number of restaurants including McDonalds, KFC and Starbucks. While you walk up and down the street, you can see what shops interest you, brows or have lunch.

If you really want to,a,lot of people then this is the right place to go. Especially on a Saturday morning. Super crowded but vibrant. If you come on a Sunday very early morning 6:30 you will see a lot of people exercising, dancing, doing sports. Great to watch and to join.
Half way into the pedestrian zone right after the cross section with the cars there is the best sticky rice place in town. For me a must to go. A very small shop that sell through a window unbelievable good, sticky rice. A must eat for all visitors.

This is a great shopping street and all you need, you will find it here. It is also nice for a good stroll down from People square to the Bund. Halfway, there is a large square and a coffee place to sit outside and check out the shoppers or recover.
What you need to watch out as a single man, are the guys and ladies approaching you for a good massage in the back alleys or even by taking a taxi ride. This will cost you an arm and a leg, plus will put you in contact with people who take you to the bank for withdrawing cash and most of all, since this kind of 'entertainment' is illegal in China, so going to the police is no real option.
So watch out!
