I can't believe people would write a negative review about the Jade Buddha Temple (aka Yufo Temple)! It's very lovely and is worth the time to visit. I guess they just don't understand what makes this temple special. It was founded by Hui Gen in the 1880's. He was gifted 5 jade Buddha statues while in Burma - and he built this temple that house two of the statues The sitting Buddha is about 2 meters tall and weighs 3 tons! You cannot take pictures of this beautifully carved Buddha but it is well worth a visit. The grounds are lovely, well kept, and have lots of statues and carvings to admire.
This is still a functioning temple with resident monks there which adds to the experience. There is also a vegetarian restaurant on the premises as well as a koi pond. I highly recommend buying a bag of koi food (it's cheap and supports the temple) to hand feed the fish! They are very friendly and can be petted - it's also considered good luck to hand feed koi!
Overall, I had a wonderful time here and since I live in Shanghai I will definitely go again.
