We stumbled on this lovely park in our wanderings, and were fascinated by the exercise class, the dancers, the saxophonist, the rhinos, etc - lovely breathing space away from the busy-ness of the streets.

Just like all the other reviews, Fuxing Park is a great place to people watch--ballrooms dancers, karaoke singers, tai chi, dancers, musicians, chess/mah jong players, etc. It is lovely to see families out enjoying a nice afternoon at this park. You never know what or whom you will see here!

A warm spring morning in the park: 50 or more couples, mostly younger retirees, perform elegant ballroom dancing steps to recorded Chinese traditional music. Fifty meters further a group of older citizens practice slow Tai-chi movements. Next, there are old men flying kites while a mixed choir of several dozen seniors belts out patriotic songs, large scrolls with lyrics hanging from a tree in front of them. A small group of foreigners with cameras stop to watch, the singers immediately break into Chinese version of Jingle Bells, followed by Frere Jacques. ...The two sides applaud each other. The foreigners reflect how growing old in Shanghai seems more fun then elsewhere.
Nearby, stone statues of Marx and Engels look quite contented.
PS. It appears that in the late afternoon and evening hours, the park population changes completely, the average age drops by 30 years.

Have spent many happy times in Fuxing Park with grandchildren who live temporarily in Shanghai. Magnificent gardens, lots of paths to scooter or stroll and just love how the locals practice their ballroom dancing skills or engage in some Tai Chi exercises.

Fuxing park is nice and big but still tranquil for a peaceful stroll in the middle of the hectic shanghai. ok the 'karaoke' people and ballroom ballroom dancers were certainly interesting, but the bonus for me was to discover the children's playground- just 'normal' slides and swings- which I could not find in any other parks?! Baby and I had a wonderful time and the rmb1 for the musical bouncy car was well-spent. Highly recommend for families with young children.
