“Good business hotel with a view”

I was in this hotel because I attended a conference in the adjacent convention center. Overall, my impression is favorable: medium-quality (yet not cheap, but abundant) breakfast and lunch buffets, wide rooms (with a very nice panorama---see picture---if you choose one with a "Bund view"). The service is correct, as is the price They allow you to keep the room till 6pm by paying 50% of the full-day price, which is convenient if your flight is in late evening. I would not choose this hotel for a honeymoon, but it provides a good option for business travelers. The hotel is not very close to the town center, but has a convenient modern shopping center very close to it, where the compulsive souvenir-shopper can find whatever needed.

this is a pretty good hotel after all, except that the costs are rather high considering the amenities provided.
breakfast is good, but the service is average, not everyone speaks a language other than Mandarin Chinese
the shower needs some understanding before it can be used

if you have a congress in the adjoining Shanghai convention center, then it is great, and I was.
the room is large, and the internet is free which is good,
the tv has few non chinese channels for a luxury hotel
most importantly , they dont change money at the reception. instead you use the currency machine, and so the passport or id is a must
the front reception is quite luke warm to most requests, so one gets to become very independent in a day or so!

Nice hotel, friendly staff that speak enough English to get by. Rooms are generous, well furnished, in particular the exec suites which I enjoyed as a bonus upgrade for the first night. Very close to the Bund tunnel, the subway and a lot of sightseeing and shopping.

We stayed in the Oriental Riverside Hotel just for one night, before getting off to BKK. The hotel is a business hotel nevertheless, the location right at the side of the Bund and at the foot of Pearl Tower is just ideal. The hotel itself could do with a little renovation, the restaurant and breakfast is far too expensive, but there are a lot of little restaurants nearby, so there is no problem.

Room Tip: Take a room going out to the river.

I stayed at Oriental Riverside Hotel as the hotels further down the road ie. Shangri-la Pudong and Ritz Carlton were too expensive. For the price I paid, I think this is a good hotel. Taxi drivers don't seem to know the hotel for its name, even in Mandarin, but they know Shanghai International Conference Centre, which this hotel is a part of. The nearest subway station is Lujiazui, which is about 10 minutes walk.

Don't expect the decor to be as swank as the Ritz or Shangri-la (which just added a new wing). Judging from the deco, the hotel must be at least a decade old. I stayed on the 4th floor, at the garden view room, which faces the Super Brand Mall and back part of Shangri-la. The room was quite sizeable and bed was comfortable. TV channels were plentiful. Bathroom came well stocked with 2 pairs of toothbrush set, combs, bottled water, etc. No wifi in the room, but there's a free LAN connection.

Swimming pool is located on the 9th floor, but one is required to have a swimming cap beforehand. Restaurants downstairs seem to be a bit lacking in variety, particularly the Chinese restaurant - not cheap and food's just OK. Shanghai is an expensive city, but I recommend this hotel for those with a budget but who would like to be near the financial centre.

We booked this hotel by accident having not visited Shanghai for 16 years, but what a pleasant surprise. We thought it was on the other side of the river, as some websites inaccurately show its location. It's tucked away but nicely alongside the Huangpu river. Not necessarily easy to find it/ the entrance from the Metro on your first visit, but not a real problem the second time.

The big positives are the rooms - large size, quality fittings and clean; staff - courteous, attentive.
Good value, would definitely book again

Room Tip: Ask for a Bund view - it's spectacular and busy!

One of the best located hotels for for sightseeing. The Bund rooms at a small extra cost are a must. The hotel is central to the Glitz of Shanghai and only a few hundred yards from the metro. The hotel itself is a genuine 5 star international standard, expensive for Shanghai but well worth it.

Room Tip: Get a bund view room, the lower the rom number by floor the better the views.
