“Peace Hotel Lived Up to it's reputation”

Luckily I have had the chance to spend time in Shanghai, China for each of the past 4 years. This year we decided to stay on the older side of the Bund across from Pudong which offers so many beautiful modern hotels. Staying at the Peace Hotel, an iconic Fairmont property was complete bliss. The rooms are amazing with a bathroom you want to live in, but it's the staff who really helped the property defy expectations. Hat's off to Alvin a wonderfully effective and attentive server in the Cathay Restaurant. His wonderful nature capped off two great dinners in a venue that offered amazing fish and an amazing view of the sparkling and captivating Pudong with it's modern towers. Can't wait to return to Peace with my kids as I know they will delight in the ambiance that comes with well refined history.

Room Tip: I had two different rooms, one with and internal courtyard type view and one with an external view...

Stayed at the Peace Hotel last week. I've been to Shanghai numerous times but this was my first time at this hotel. It is a lovely old building on The Bund and has been beautifully restored.as a Fairmont President Club member I was given a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite. One of the highlights of this hotel is the jazz bar where elderly musicians play every night - many of them have been playing at the Peace Hotel for over 30 years! You could say they're the Chinese equivalent of the Buena Vista Social Club. Very entertaining. The breakfast was probably my only disappointment. There didn't seem to be enough staff, even though it was a buffet. Dinner at the Cathay Room however was a completely different story. The food was good and service was excellent. The sommelier overheard my colleagues and I discussing which wine to choose. Once we had selected and sampled our choice he brought us several other wines and we had a competition to see who could identify his offering. He did this with 2 reds and a white - full glasses of each for 3 of us - and it made for a fun evening, particularly as we only paid for the one we had chosen. Overall and exceptional stay in a classic old beauty.

Stayed here for two nights after completing a Cruise which ended in Shanghai. 5 Star hotel, excellent location walking distance to The Bund (which means riverside). Which is beautiful to see at night lit up. Also walking distance to Shops and the Pedestrian Mall.

Room (138) was super spacious and lovely old style decor. Spotlessly Clean. Extra large bed. Bathroom had separate shower room and toilet all in the same room but with doors, 2 hand basins and a separate dressing room. Coffee machine and tea in room. We had free internet and breakfast was included. Western and Asian breakfast available, with a great variety. Chef to cook eggs for you.

A very pleasant stay, Staff were most helpful with checking flights, getting cabs, giving directions etc. Really couldn't fault this hotel. Really quite as well, even though it was centrally located in a busy area. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to all.

Room Tip: We had a room which overlooked Nanjing Road East which is very busy, but quite and it was great for...

As a fan of Fairmont, this place came with high expectations and it did not disappoint.
Great food, the Jazz Band, beautiful rooms and most of all outstanding staff.
Check in was quick and easy and I was asked if I wanted to use any of my President's Club certificates (which isn't the case in some hotels in the group). Checkout was a breeze and the concierge a great help.
Thoroughly enjoyable and recommended.

No doubt that it is a fantastic western style traditional hotel in Shanghai. Most of all, the bed is a great, very comfortable. You can feel satisfaction when you look around your room every moment.
Also you can experience high standard services which you can hardly find other 5 star hotel in Shanghai.

Gym and swimming pool is not big size, but okay to enjoy with friends/family.

But in front desk, Check-in/Check-out made me tired.

Room Tip: Wonderful western style traditional hotel. If you like Jazz, there is a live jazz bar in ground floo...

My husband and I recently spent several days in Shanghai at the beautiful Fairmont Peace Hotel partly to relive some family history. The hotel is perfectly located on the corner of the Bund and Nanjing Rd. I was born in Shanghai and the Peace (then the Cathay) played a significant role in my parents lives in the 1930s. The hotel was prominent in the social life of the time and and a well known meeting place. My parents and grandparents sheltered there during the historic bombing of the Bund in 1937 when many lives were lost. Today's hotel has recently undergone a magnificent renovation keeping the original Art Deco details throughout. We found our accommodation truly beautiful with attention to every detail. In addition the staff were attentive and always available. The Fairmont Peace is a unique experience and a wonderful place to stay in Shanghai.

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and must say it lived to the write ups. Located right across from the Bund the location is just right, to site seeing and then down the road for shopping. The service is just remarable as everyone knows your name and they are so graceous that it makes you feel at home. The Jazz bar , i suppose is as good asyou will get not being in New Orleans, but it was a good show and the crowd seemed to enjoy it , so did i. Lots of high end shops and you can find low end as well. Great.

Room Tip: Stayed in a suite and cannot complain. As good as it gets.
