88 floors of amazing hotel next to the two tallest buildings in China. Typically pudong. Modern but fails to live up to the standard of a new hotel particularly after experiencing the newer version in Shenzhen. Smaller rooms with awkward bathrooms. Comfortable but starting to look and feel dated. Disappointing western breakfast but great service from chef Jenny for amazing soup with dumplings.

The hotel occupies some middle to top floor of the building and you therefore enjoy a great view. Service in line with Hyatt standards but you have to like flashy decorations, gold on the wall, mirrors in the bathroom. Did the job. Great bat at the top of the tower.

one of the greatest city hotels, I have ever stayed in my entire travelling around the world experience. Wow.. on the 57th floor I was swimming and looking down on Shanghai !
If you visit this huge city in China .. you must stay at the Grand Hyatt Pudong. Having breakfast on the 54th floor or a good nite drink on the 88th floor.. Its awsome.. I am from a small town in Switzerland.. how will I tell that to my friends.. ? They will not believe me :)

Room Tip: there is no bad room. I do not like carpets in hotelrooms, however it was clean and not smelly.

Have stayed in this hotel many times and it still impresses me. The elevator up to the lobby's, higher the most tall buildings in Europe. But then from lobby level up to I think 88e floor there is an atrium around which the rooms are built.
Very impressive.

Be aware, some rooms are really small as where others are much bigger and some corner rooms are simple huge.

The only issue I had several times is staff which did not speak well English and from time to time straight forward arrogant.

Something I have never experienced across the street I the sister property park Hyatt.

Other then that, impressive and good hotel.

The hotel starts on the 54th floor so all floors have a great view. The rooms were exceptionally well fitted and the service was excellent. The staff in all areas could not have been more polite and helpful. Great cocktails on Cloud Nine

We stayed on the club floor and it was a great experience. Our room was elegant and spacious and the bathroom was very luxurious. The food in the dining room buffet was delicious and beautifully presented.
The pool area is tranquil and beautiful.
The club lounge was welcoming and generous with drinks. My only quibble about the hotel was the standard of the food in the club lounge. The breakfast eggs tended to be cold and overcooked, and the evening snacks were often lacking in taste.
The service, city knowledge, and English of the staff generally, and the concierge team in particular, were outstanding.

Room Tip: The Club Floors are good value.

I stayed here for 3 nights, on business travel, in a Club King room, 85th Floor.

The hotel is the 2nd tallest hotel in the world, the Park Hyatt across the street being the tallest. The views are outstanding, and the rooms are spacious and very clean. Each room has local Chinese theme and are extremely pleasant. Bathrooms are spacious and include little touches such as heated mirrors to stop them steaming up.

The Club Lounge located on the 83rd offered an excellent selection of alcoholic beverages, and canapes between 5-8pm. The service in the lounge was friendly and attentive.

The central location makes this easy to get anywhere by taxi. I also walked around 15 minutes to the ferry terminal and took the ferry across the river to the historic Bund district. Ferry costs 2 RMB (about 30 cents) one way per person.

Tips:
* Smoking is prevalent throughout China, including restaurants, bars and hotel rooms, if this bothers you (it does me) make sure you request a non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor. Also note that in Cloud 9 bar on 87th floor smoking is permitted, and the non-smoking area appeared just as smoke filled as anywhere else.
* The extra amount for the Club room and Club lounge access is worth the additional amount in my opinion, you get breakfast, drinks in the evening and various snacks etc, as well as free internet. Best of all the Club lounge offers some of the best views of Shanghai-see pictures below.
* Taxi drivers typically don't speak English- the hotel provides a card with basic directions and top attractions listed in Chinese and English, this is very useful.

Room Tip: There are some renovated rooms, which are great, but are not on the highest floors, depends on your...
