The hotel is well located and the staff are very helpful. The fitness facilities are the best with plenty of treadmills and reasonable weights. Breakfast buffet is good. Rooms are large and beds comfortable.

The hotel is about 10years old, and is beginning to look tired and dated. The room is what I expected in a 3 or 4 star hotel, but definitely below expectations for a Four Seasons. The service, especially Jason at the Concierge, is however very good. The location is fairly central for business and shopping, but if you intend to use the metro (a good idea in Shanghai especially during traffic hours), you should know the closest one (Nanjing W Road) is about a 10-minute walk away.

Dear Guest,
Thank you so much for choosing Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai and sharing your valuable review regarding to your recent stay.
We are very happy to hear that you were impressed with our service, especially the concierge. Your praise has been conveyed to the related department and it will definitely encourage them for future progress. On the other hand, although our property has been in Shanghai since 2002, We have always prided ourselves on providing excellent guest service and maintaining a beautiful hotel environment. Comparing to many newly opened hotels, the facilities and rooms may not be our strength, but we are very happy to share that the hotel renovation has been put on agenda. We believe that after the renovation, our room and facilities will bring you the perfect enjoyment!
We hope you will come back soon after the hotel renovation and see our progress and improvement!

We love the Four Seasons chain of hotels. It's truly one of the best chains in the world. The Four Seasons in Shanghai, however, was not what we were hoping for. The service and rooms were pretty decent. But the lobby and the hotel itself are nothing special. Medium at best, in fact. The location is somewhat central, but next door there is a lot of construction going on. And the traffic near the hotel can be terrible. Maybe the Four Seasons in Pudong is better, although we did not make it all the way out there to check, as that one is much less central.

Dear Guest,
Thank you so much for choosing Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai and we appreciate you taking a moment to share this review regarding your stay.
We are glad to know that you enjoyed the room and service. As the first Four Seasons Hotel opened in China in 2002; we have always focused on extraordinary and personalized service. We pride ourselves on being helpful in every way possible. We believe that after the hotel renovation, our hotel will impress you a lot! For our location, it is in the prime district of central Shanghai. Right beside our hotel, there is the most representative and traditional Shanghainese residence – Shi Ku Men. We hope you will explore a lot of fun by means of our convenient and unique location.
Thank you again for your review and looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future!

Top level service from all departments and staff. Wonderful, modern, well appointed guest rooms. It's a small thing, but I never needed any of my power adapters while at this hotel. Every room has multiple outlets for every style plug configuration. It's a small thing, but just an indication of how well this hotel has planned ahead and it's staff treats it's guests.

Special mention! Great breakfast buffet with choices from every style of cuisine. Don't pass it up.

Stayed here for a weekend, following my business trip in China and loved it! Hotel is elegant, well kept with professional service and personnel speaking good English.

Massage in the Spa was awesome after a busy week. Although I did not book the appointment in advance, Spa personnel was quick and efficient to organise everything in 10 min! Truly a 5 star service.

The only improvement need would be the breakfast, at least from a European point of view :o).

Would definitely recommend this hotel and will for sure return.
