I am glad to be back to the Hilton chain of hotels, their commitment to excellence is well notice in every detail and service they provide. The Hilton Shanghai and Hilton ORD chigago were my last two recent stops and i am very proud of the people, service and overall the condition of the rooms and attention given to every detail. all i can say is that Hotel service, rooms, location and details were very good.. Yet what always strikes out as the top value to me is the great attitude of their superb staff..thanks HH staff and management team.

Hilton Shanghai is perhaps one of the older 5-star hotel in Shanghai, amid all the new fancy hotels being opened monthly. Its facility is certainly not as grandiose as some of the new ones. However, its hospitality is among the best, especially its Executive Lounge. The lounge staff is very courteous, attentive, efficient and personal, making the place like your own family room. Of course, the downside is its crowdedness often filled to capacity. I will not stay at other hotels even another Hilton when I visited Shanghai. I strongly recommend it to whoever looking for a business friendly yet personal place to stay in Shanghai.

Room Tip: Book an Executive Room to use the Exec Lounge. It's worth the extra money.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced room, comfortable accomodations, great customer service, excellent food quality and selection, and located in downtown Shanghai, the Hilton is the perfect hotel for you.

I've stayed here numerous times for business and there's a few things to highlight:

-Check in was a breeze - which is always a plus after the long flight from U.S. A Staff member checked me in, off to the side, and handled everything in about 5 minutes.

-Very nice swimming pool, that was a somewhat under utilized asset (typically I was the only one in the pool by 6:30 AM), plus Japanese bath and spa. The locker room was beautiful - hardwood floor with plenty of space. Gym has alot of treadmills and aerobic stations. Free weight area was decent, considering other hotels.

-Breakfast buffet is really high quality. Lots of choices from Western food, Japanese/Chinese breakfast, multiple breads, cheeses, cereal, and fruits/vegetables. Something that in Japan you would pay at least 3,000 yen for. Lunch was outstanding there....typically wouldn't want to eat meals in the hotel, but with a heavy rain storm limiting travel, this was a great option.

-Service was outstanding. Staff is friendly, engaging but not aggressive, and great communication skills.

One area for opportunity, which reduced the score, was the WiFi connectivity. There were some technical issues over the weekend, that made it impossible to connect to WiFi. I tried in the hotel room, lobby, etc., and all were the same. There was an Ethernet cable and port in the room, but that didn't make any difference when I connected to the hard wire. This put me down for 2-3 days, and made it difficult to prepare for some presentation work.

Overall though, Hilton is an excellent place to stay and I'll be there again at some point soon.

If you are looking for a short or long term accommodation, I would suggest this hotel. Location is not bad and the hotel is a bit old comparing to other new hotels in Shanghai. But, you can negotiate for a better rate as their staff are very professional. Good service and clean room. They even provide complimentary bus shuttle to surrounding area with certain schedule. Overall, an excellent hotel. The General Manager is at the lobby to greet me upon arrival and also saw him early in the morning at the lobby. Don't know if he ever get any zzzzzz.

Stayed 2 nights at the Hilton Shanghai. Good service. Dinner at Leonardo's was terrific. Service and cuisine were top notch. The executive lounge was also very good, especially the omelet chef. So personable. The only thing that was not good was the dinner in the Atrium. Chicken was a piece of shoe leather, barely edible. SO disappointed after the great meal the night before. Nonetheless, would still return.
