Very clean and comfortable hotel located in Pudong area within walking distance of Century Park and about 20-30 mins by taxi to Bund along Huang Pu river.

Excellent breakfast buffet however I would not recommend dinner buffet.

Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. The service meet the expectation for the price.
The food is not too bad, the snack during the break is quite good comparing to other hotels we been to. The location is perfect, has convinient store across the street and not far from main attraction like the bund (taxi didnt cost much and take less than 30 min to get there).

Stylish design and easy-go concept does its job to cover malfunctions of the building. My colleague had encounter with a cockroach in bathroom. Noise-proof grade of windows is close to zero; some mirrors have humidity-infested black canvas. However altogether, it’s very chic, comfy, hipster influenced & no-nonsense.

Room
is just perfect: good toiletries, extra-comfy bed which Marriott’s always is proud of; inviting ottoman. Wifi comes free only in the lobby.

Restaurant
Best breakfast I had in a year of travels. Freshly cooked on order dim sum dumplings on dedicated stall, Eggs Benedict on order two styles (including invented speciality, a la Shanghai), lots of green salads and Camembert cheese, smoothies and an even Indian corner with fresh dal.

Environs.
Walkable distance to underground stations and a park, family mart with cheap beer and snacks just across the road.

Hints.
The upper floor you stay, the calmer it will get. Noise-proof grade of windows is close to zero; Wifi comes free only in the lobby.

Room Tip: The upper floor you stay, the calmer it will get. Noise-proof grade of windows is close to zero; Wif...

This hotel has everything you would expect from a Renaissance. The staff was very accommodating and seemed to go above and beyond.

Location is ideal for business. If you are looking for a hotel for a vacation try a different area.

Delicious breakfast buffet with a good spread. Make sure to have free breakfast included in the room rate.

I've stayed at this hotel 3 times now and each visit has gradually improved.
I attended a meeting here, if I was sight seeing it wouldn't be my first choice. The hotel has all of the usual features you'd expect from a good Renaissance- rooms were good sized, well kitted out with ipod dock, Molton Brown products. I stayed in a room on the club level which I would recommend as the club lounge is great for breakfast or a light snack, drink later in the day.
Main highlights - club lounge, good sized indoor pool and hot tub, spa, Raymond and Jimmy the concierges are good guys.
Main lowlights - noise carries between the rooms. If TV noise from the adjacent room bothers you, bring earplugs. Also, I struggled to make myself understood with some of the restaurant bar staff. Rather shamefully I can't speak mandarin so had to resort to slow English with some enthusiastic finger pointing - but even that failed dismally to order 'egg fried rice' from the bar menu. Got a bit frustrating after a while as my expectation was that at this class of hotel, English would be fluent. However, I reminded myself that I was in China and I should be trying to speak the local language.

Room Tip: Pay the extra to stay on the club floor. It's worth it for the breakfast/snacks.

This was my first visit to the Renaissance in Pudong, Shanghai and after staying in four different hotels in the city, would now be my first choice in future since for me it provides everything I need with good service. Being a Marriot Rewards member provided a few extra touches which were welcome.

Check in was quick and efficient. My bags were taken away and delivered to the room within 5 minutes of me arriving. The room was very clean and well appointed with two large double beds, working area, large TV, mini bar and kettle for hot drinks – something not always found. The bathroom included a separate shower and double sink. Here is where my only complaint of the stay came and that is with the temperature consistency of the shower; no matter what time of day I used the shower, the temperature always varied. Variation was not to the point of scalding or being very cold but it was noticeable and annoying but really not the end of the world!

WiFi in the room is chargeable unless you are a Marriot rewards member when it becomes free. In effect, it is free for everyone since you can register on line once accessed to become a member. Bed was extremely comfortable and I slept very well. I heard no noise from other rooms, corridor or the city outside.

I used room service and had a good meal which was delivered well within the 30-45 minute estimate. It was hot and well prepared. I also used the laundry service which on this occasion was offered with 50% off for being a rewards member. I would have used the service anyway but this was a nice touch. My shirts were washed and pressed very well and returned to my room by the time promised.

Check out was swift and I was asked if everything was OK with my stay. A taxi was swiftly arranged and destination given to the driver.

A recommended hotel for anyone visiting Shanghai.

Without doubt this is a very nice, if not great, hotel. Let's take the day chronoclogically: the breakfast is fantastic and certainly don't forget to taste the Eggs Benedicte, "Shanghai style". One of the very best things I have eaten in a while; I never even knew it existed. The gym is reasonably good with all the basic needs. The buffet dinner is phenomenal, including the service. The rooms are really very, very nice. Then why not five star? Two reasons: on the TV there is no BBC channel. In fact, there are about 30+ Chinese/Asian channels and about 10 western, but I need my bbc world news. Second, the rooms at times were a bit noisy because of the neighbours. This might have been because I had noisy neighbours but still it was annoying and should not be allowed for this price. Other than that rooms have a great well-equipped bathroom, although not overdone. In any event, I will most likely, if not most certainly, be back.

Room Tip: 1. get a room on the backside, no noise from the main road and you get the sunrise; 2. become a marr...
