“Nice cheap 5 stars”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2010

Many good things to say about this hotel. Wise location near Expo 2010 and Pudong / Bund.
Great rooms with impressive independant bath. The view of the rooms (any side and stage) is also impressive. Hotel with nice pool and sauna / Jaccuzi. Nice Restaurants. Metro 4 close to the hotel (5 min away).
But the staff were not that qualified and smily for a 5 stars hotel. When you take your breakfast, you clearly bother the staff when you ask to clean a table or a cup of coffea. In 5 days, no smile at all. Then it was impossible to get the A/Club Card from that hotel.

Worst hotel I ever stayed, a fake "5 STAR" hotel, just an old dirty chinese standard hotel took over by sofitel for the expo. Nothing like the rest of the Sofitel hotels.
The hotel staff are extremely rude and unprofessional, concierge not happy to help with luggage, front desk have bad attitude and anything answer u back only will be "what? what?"
Rooms are small, old and dirty, have blood on cupboard, dirty stains on carpet, bed cover never been washed for years, old panasonic tv from 1991, power cables just hanging from the table onto the wall, ironing board already turned from silver to black, toliet phone using by the bed, bathroom water no pressure at all, room wallpaper seems never been cleaned since the hotel opened.
Outside the room just same thing everywhere, same dirty and filthy, fire escape door with broken glasses, carpet you cant find 1 inch that is clean...
Can't believe how they got a 5 star rating for their crab hotel, I stayed sofitel all over the place, this one is just nothing like a sofitel. Dont believe the pictures you see on the internet, the pictures are not real, and the hotel is nothing like this in real life!!! Will never stay here again!!!!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2010

After the hustle of two weeks in China with family, staying in local hotels and eating local asian food, it was a wonderful break to spend a few night luxuriating in the comfort of the Sofitel Shanghai. The staff was wonderful, accomodating and the food was great. Only problem was getting my shoes shined...other than that- what a nice place! Pretty reasonable, too. About $150/night including breakfast..I have paid more than that at a Holiday Inn in the US! Cabs are inexpensive if you want to get around.
