If you have been to a Cirque du Soleil show then you have a good idea of what most of the Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe show is about. The acrobatics were excellent, but probably nothing that you have not seen before... until they opened the curtain and there was a huge steel ball on the stage, maybe 25 - 30 feet in diameter. A trap door was opened and a man rode a motorcycle into the ball. He rode around in all directions, at the equator, and upside down through the north and south poles.
This would have been enough, but they opened the door and another rider entered, then another. Finally there were eight riders in the ball on intersecting paths. It was amazing! I doubt that they could get away with this in the US. You could smell the exhaust fumes from the bikes.
This was an optional activity on our 14 day China tour from Gate1 Travel. We found most of the Gate1 optional activities to be very reasonably priced, plus we usually avoided lines and got preferential treatment. For the acrobatic show we entered the auditorium from a side door and were seated up front. The place was packed and we had the best seats in the house.
