You will not be able to find this place or even notice it unless someone brings you there. Its tugged 50meters inside a dark alley, and once you reach there its like "whao! where did this place come from"!

They serve good and rather authentic italian food with rather expensive wine to go with it (i had one that cost USD100) and serve seafood to roast lamb, and will serve up a grappa (free only if you ask for it). They hire english speaking waitresses (italian/pinoy students)There is a special table next to a special window, ask for that table... its unique and has great view.

It is not easy to find Bella Napoli on Changle Lu (near Wulumuqi Lu) as it is slightly hidden in the lane, but if you are looking for the lane on the north side of Changle Lu you cannot miss it. Overall I would say it is a good simple choice for groups of friends as it can accommodate many different dietary choices.
Bella Napoli is not a good solution for a romantic dinner as it is noisy and quite packed (like many restaurants in Shanghai), but it has a good friendly vibe for friends and the management is making an effort to be helpful even if it does not always succeed.
In our case the waiters pretty much took away our appetizers and pushed on us the main course because apparently the kitchen was closing. We had a discussion about this both with the head waitress and the manager and we felt that they don't handle this well. However, after we got the attention of staff they were helpful and quick to react to requests.
The pizzas and pastas are all of good quality, but you should not expect miracles. Rather you should trust that you will eat well and will not feel that you have paid over the top for that. As was remarked on another review the tiramisu is unacceptable and definitely nothing an Italian would be proud to serve.

The food was very good, especially the pizzas. The kids really enjoyed the food from the kids menu.
Make sure to ask to not have the table next to the restrooms when making the reservation.

Hidden down an alley it was a great find! I was there on a Saturday night, liked it so much we went back on Sunday night. Owned and run by Italians, great festive atmosphere - transports you out of China for an hour or so. The wood fired, brick oven pizza is excellent as is the pasta. Only complaint is the tiramisu but I'm picky.

My husband and I have ate at this location twice and the other location near the Portman one time. We have enjoyed our food and the wine. The servers are attentive once you get their attention (as is the case in China.) This is definitely not a romantic place to eat - the tables are packed in the space and it can be hard to move around.
