We went here for a early evening drink and a snack.

They have a great selection of the usual beers, wines, spirits etc, but also some really cool cocktails! The menu is built around the taste, not the content.

We also ordered some food from the bar snacks menu, we had the lamb (which were little freshly made burgers in a really soft bun), the prawn broth with chorizo and the fries. All three dishes were absolutely superb. The fries a little twist with spices and dips. The lamb sliders with their flavour and the textures of the pastry bun and sauce. But, the star of the show was the broth, it was fiery, but at the same time cool, it was absolutely amazing!

Venue: located in Sinan Mansions, a few meters by the relaxing Fuxing park.
Food: Brunch is great, I keep coming back again and again. Their croque-monsieur is delicious. Tapas are beautiful as well, I had some crab cakes with gaspacho "tube'' , prawns in garlic sauce, my friend had the chicken breast, what a portion, she couldn't even finish it !
Cocktails: Great ideas and molecular mixes for surprising results.
Service: Nice

The Alchemist is located within the restored Sinan Mansions.
If cocktail is your poison, you'll be glad to know that the lead bartender, Ryan Noreiks knows his stuff. He is also prepared to concoct something to your taste...the best part, he is normally spot-on, and if not, he's open to your suggestions and will try till the drink suits your palate.
The ambiance resembles a cigar bar..relaxed, dimly lit and a mixed crowd. For us, sitting at the bar and watch them work their magic is most enjoyable. Great place for pre or post dinner drinks.

First bar I've been to where you don't have to ask the waiter what kind of drinks you want, but is already written on the menu. No, I don't mean "kind" as in Vodka based, Whiskey based, Gin based. I mean, Sweet, Bitter, Sour.. etc.

Very unique in that sense, after all, that's how half the people order, based on what kind of taste they want that day. I gave the 'Widow' a try, kind of stereotypical, but very bitter and delicious!
