The history of the Jewish community Shanghai during WWII gives insight into how they lived and worked. It traces the forward history of families forward from that era to today. The contributions of those families might have been made had their families not been able to find refuge after fleeing Nazi oppression.

We very much enjoyed viewing this important historic location, and understanding the role that China had in saving 23,000 Jews! It was a unique and eye opening experience. The museum was very well done!

Worth the trek from the subway station, but we got turned around. However we eventually found it. This museum is a must for every Jewish visitor. Here is where some of our tribe went when the rest of the world was deserting our people...What a wonderful story and a wonderful welcoming community of Chinese who gave these Jewish families refuge as the Holocaust was happening.

Very well maintained and operated museum. Great to hear story of the Jews escaping the Holocaust finding a sale place to live. The Chinese seem to have great pride and respect for the temple and the experiences the jews had.
