“Only place to get eggless veggie cakes in Shanghai”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

The only open restaurant is one on HauiHai Lu near Shanxi Nan Lu, other branches are closed.
Had been here a couple of times earlier to try Chinese style food, but totally vegetarian, mostly made from tofu. I am a veggie so not sure whether the food really tastes same as chicken or meat, but my friends have told that the taste is almost the same as meat. Ambiance is not so great, but the service is good. There is no alcohol available in the restaurant, only some fruit beer/juices.
This is probably the only place which offers a good range of eggless cakes also, though the order needs to be placed in advance.

“Amazing vegetarian food”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

I think I have never eaten better vegetarian food before. Even so the place looks a bit... well... strange, with all the plush and the colors, the food is just phantastic. Try the chicken skewers Szechuan style or the rock fish (both vegetarian ;-). Or the beef soup, the shrimp dumplings or any other food. Note: They don't serve alcohol, but the freshly squeezed juices help you get over that.

“Superb Fake Meat Food for Vegetarians!!”
Reviewed April 26, 2012

I loved this place for their range of "fake meat" food. Got to try chinese delicacies in a vegetarian way. Coz i am a vegetarian. Loved the authentic dumplings. steamed buns and the noodle soup.
Atmosphere was nice and calm. Totally loved the experience.

“First time pure veg food in shanghai-really enjoyed it”
Reviewed January 20, 2012

Been to the NEw Age Veggie on huai hai road.It is very easy to find and convenient to reach by subway also(Line 10 south shanxi road).Went there because one of my relatives was pure veg.We ordered from the menu-menu come with pics,so it gave us an idea what we are expecting. We were readily seated as we reached there quite early. But it is a very busy place as around dinner time (1900 hrs for chinese),the place was full. The staff was nice, understood english (so so!!)..the dishes take around 15 minutes to arrive.we ordered a tofu dish with veg-it was very oily,a chicken dish(sorry forgot the exact name) ,we didnt know it was going to be fried.the taste was ok,it looked like chicken strips.it was chicken dipped in a batter. But it was pricey-99 rmb one plate! The yellow rice was ok,though the portion was small.just enough for one person.Unfortunately they dont have fried noodles option.all noodles are in a soup base. But the food is served hot and i think taste wise and price wise-it is better than Gond de lin.The best part is the dessert-all egg less cakes. We had a chocolate brownie,Opera cake and mocha cake.Well i wont mind going there again, esp since I am being invited:)

“A vegetarian field day”
Reviewed November 19, 2011

A friend who is a meat eater took me to here and said go ahead and order anything off the menu because it's all vegetarian.... the dishes are named after traditional meat dishes but there is no meat in anything. I don't normally like to eat all the fake meat products, but it was fun for a night not to be limited on what I can order and the food was very tasty. I had limited time in shanghai so did not get a chance to look for other vegetarian options but this was good and I would go back again.
