Looking for a breezy little place share chips and guacamole while in Shanghai? Cantina Agave does a good job in delivering a fun experience at reasonable prices. We stopped for lunch after a morning at Jing'an Temple; Agave is a 15 minute walk away. Careful crossing the crowded intersections of Nanjing Road and watch for motorcyclists beating the congestion by hopping up in the sidewalks!
Once safely at Agave, we opted for 3 lunch time choices: soft carne asada tacos, chicken verde nachos and a burrito papito. All were ample and tasty - skip the rice and beans but try the guacamole and chips. Four different salsas, all with varying degrees of heat.
The lunch-time crowd was mainly young Shanghainese professionals with a few ex-pats in the mix. The Agave staff was accommodating and service was quick. Overall, Agave offered us a fun excuse to pass on the xiaolongbao dumplings and try a taste of home.
