“Good fried dumpling very cheap”
Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

Value wise this place is great. Four large dumplings for ¥6 will certainly fill you a lot, add in a bowel of noodles and you have a meal!

It is rather basic inside, with three floors of seats and plain chairs, feels a bit McDonalds inside and can get very hot!

But realistically you come here for the fried dumplings! They are good, to my tastes a bit oily but overall for this type of dumplings it is right up there with the best!

“Used to love it!!!”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

I used to go whenever I am in the area (Old store off Nanjing Lu)...but a recent story in a local Chinese paper turned me off...the mystery meat mix was so off-putting that now I might just have four once in a long while because they are still the juiciest and tastiest pork buns on earth. Just don't think about it.

“Great local food”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

These dumplings are very tasty and filling, well worth waiting in line for. Service is fast and the dumplings are made right in front of you at 6y for 4 largish dumplings - this is excellent value! We speak limited Chinese but were able to get by with pointing and helpful staff.
Get there early as the lines get VERY long at lunch and dinnertime.

“A must try when Shanghai”
Reviewed August 12, 2012 via mobile

A great and cheap way to try out shanghai fast food cuisine. Yangs specialise in the braised rather than steamed dumplings where the skin of the dumpling is of the thicker variety. Beware the soup contained in the dumpling when eating as its piping hot but woks soooo well with the pork filling and flour skin.

Shame the Yangs no longer exist as the street stall wound shimen Lu which is now gone as it somehow tasted better...
