“A world of illusion”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

First of all, you will need good information before you can find it: many busses are running there, but without number and only with Chinese caracters. Ask in your hotel to write the name on a paper to give it to a taxidriver.

These film studios are really special: you think you see a house, but it's only the outside wall: nothing is inside. Old trams are running, but when you look very good... everything is an illusion. The houses are smaller (80 %) upstairs and also the trams are. But it's worth of a visit: at the entrance you will find an hangar. Inside are many old cars, busses, riksjas... everything what you can immagine that have wheels and can be used in movies.

If you have time and interested to see how an old Chinese city could look: it's the place to be. But it's an attraction and nothing is true.

“Well worth the trip to Sonjiang”
Reviewed January 26, 2012

Visited here just after Spring Festival with my wife and her parents. Spent the whole day at the film park which is modelled on "lao Shanghai". They have trams, old cars, horse and trap and impressive replicas of Nanjing Road, the former Bund war memorial etc.

The day we visited they had a kung-fu performance from some of the extras in Chinese movies and a Taiwan food festival.

Best to get here via Lianhua Lu metro station, and then a bus to the film park.
