“If Old Artifacts Are Your Thing”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

If you like looking at a bunch of old artifacts this is the place for you. The museum is in a nice location and is set up very well. Anyway you slice it though...it's still just a museum with a bunch of old stuff in it.

“A gem”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

This is an excellent museum bringing to life the history of Shanghai. The skill of China's craftsmen are very much on display here. Whether it's life size models of farmers before Shanghai entered "the abyss of semi-colonialism" (as one of the explanations put it) or scale models of the Bund, the attention to detail is phenomenal. You'll find this museum in the basement of the Orient Pearl Tower. Tickets at the gate of the building.

“Wonderful, but a bit too long”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

The time it must have taken to create this must have been extensive. It gave you a real insight into the city that Shanghai has become. It just went on a bit too long though. It's in the base of the Pearl TV tower

“Nothing spectacular”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

This museum is spread across 4 floors and showcases the various scripts, paintings, ceramics, weapons that have evolved over the ages in china. The artifacts are well showcased and maintained, but after spending half an hour at the place you get bored.
