OK, we didn't go to the museum but we rode the Maglev train out to the airport and back. A great experience. As the photo shows we travelled at 301 km/hr for most of the journey. This is not the highest speed a Maglev can travel but the operational speed on that particular train. Interestingly it was not as absolutely smooth as I had imagined but still rocked a little like a normal wheeled train. We rode on the Chinese high-speed train (wheeled) a few days later to go from Xi'An to Beijing. On that we travelled at 297 km/hr and it was just as comfortable as the Maglev. It is highly recommended that you try the Maglev in Shanghai. It is an economical and unique experience.

Visited the museum after our trip on the Maglev train whilst staying in Shanghai on a tour of China with Exodus.
It was my husband's birthday and a treat to travel to & from the airport (£8) just to experience the 270 mph of the fastest train in the world!
The museum would have been missed but I saw a sign leading downstairs from the platform and my husband spent an enjoyable hour perusing the different exhibits. There is a lot of technical information which rather went over my head - but this was a visit for my husband not myself!

For less than $10, you can experience the thrill of being on the fastest train in the world.
From the Longyang station to Pudong International Airport in Shanghai, the commuting time is 7 minutes and 20 seconds. The taxi cab fare for the same route is between 150-200 Yuan (or more, if your cab driver is dishonest). It takes about 50 minutes or so on the cab for the same route depending on the traffic. I have taken the Maglev (Magnetic Levitation) train from Pudong Airport (or vice versa) and it was a breeze! The Maglev staff will help you if you need any help. The museum is on the first floor of the Pudong International Airport. It is small. If you show your Maglev ticket, admission was free. There were several eating facilities.
The Maglev train is reasonable, fast, efficient and very clean.

The maglev (magnetic levitation) train is the fastest in the world- 431km/hour, much, much faster than the japan bullet train or the French TGV. It is basically a $10 billion used experiment that one can experience connecting Shanghai Longyang Road and the Shanghai Pudong International airport. The ride takes 7-8 minutes and is quite smooth and not at all frightening. The coaches are comfortable and it is a very unique experience.

Just for fun, we took the Maglev to Shanghai's Pudong International Airport and back again. Just because we could!!

This super-fast train travels at 431 kph (270 mph) and it only cost $8 US each way. Pretty cheap thrills!! (Note: the train's top speed varies based on the time of day. Check their website for details.)
