Stayed at The Langham Xintiandi for business in June for 4 nights. You can never get tired of this hotel. First things first, the location excellent and a hop away from Xintiandi and its wonderful restaurants. That goes without saying that public transportation (its a block away from a subway station) and taxis are abundant, and that once you tell a cab driver to bring you to Xintiandi, the hotel is never far away.
The rooms are wonderful. Stayed at the entry level Grand Suite and there is enough space for everything. Amenities are great, but just hoped that the toiletries do not just come in a one time use only size (but they change it everyday). Beds are great, sleep quality is good as the black out curtains certainly do their job. For someone like me who was on a business trip, wifi was fast (vpn is also available), there were free Skype calls to landlines for Europe, Canada, and the US, and there was an espresso machine, so did not need to go down to get that first shot of coffee in the morning.
Yes, it's true. There are many bells and whistles in the toilet and the bathroom, but it was all good. Shower area was one of the largest I have seen and the heated toilet bowl was quite entertaining. Lights in the bathroom had 3 settings, while lights in the room had more than 5 settings, I guess. I did not keep track.
Breakfast was very good and the spread varied. Coffee with 8 kinds of sugar?! Langham has it! The GM and the FB Directors were always on hand to make sure the guests were served properly.
Once again, even with all these, the people were very very good! The staff at the hotel were more than amazing. They made everything so easy. Kudos to JP Santos, a fellow Filipino, who was very helpful not just to us, but mostly everyone. It may be quite pricey compared to other hotels in Shanghai but the location and the value for money you get out of it (plus the kick on getting all those bells and whistles in your room) is surely worth it!
