It is huge. We had to walk forever to reach our platform. Massive empty spaces. My guess is to maybe accommodate large crowds during mass exodus during national holidays...?

This is one of the 3 train stations. Most trains to Beijing and Hangzhou. It is near Hongqiao airport. It is crowded most of the time and only 1 ticket booth area open for onsite ticket purchase that is the only part not very convenient.

very well organized, good use of English in display signs and information, helpful staff, scarcely available porters (you would not get one easily, if you are travelling with heavy luggage). Very neat and clean and good choice of retail stores for that last minute shopping.
Distance of around 15 kms from city center, and station approach prone to traffic congestion.

Dunno why this place is a tourist attraction but OK. There is a McDonalds, Costa Coffee, Starbucks, and many local food joints. More importantly, the staff selling the train ticket speak english.

when i got off the train, i had no idea where to go to get to the subway. not clearly market. the answer is just to go "down" like everyone else. the signs say "north exit" & "south exit". it's not necessarily the most intuitive, as i found myself going "up" to the concourse level instead.
